I have heard a rumour that Garmin are just about to release a system for Train drivers and TOC's in general. Anybody else heard anything?
This seems completely pointless, drivers have extensive route knowledge and don't have control over the route their train will take.

It's not even April 1st yet! 
possibly be handy as an aid to knowing the line layout and signal numbers ahead? Could help with pinpointing locations in an emergency?

They don't have direct control though, all they can do is refuse to accept a route set for them. In the case of Cogload Junction though even this is not possible. If you approach from Taunton on the GWML, by the time you have seen the feather is not illuminated for the Berks and Hants it's a bit too late and you are going to stay on the GWML even if you want the Berks and Hants.Drivers do have control of the route their train will take, that is the point of route knowledge, to stop a signaller wrong routing them

What do you mean by counted down?Dont you get counted down by signals to your feathers?

Correct, seeing as to diverege onto the Berks and Hants you only have to slow down from 100 mph to 90 mph approach control would be a bit pointless.I think he means checked down. At Cogload I don't think it is approach controlled.
I'm not sure that a 90 mph diverging route speed where the main line speed is 100 mph justifies a flashing yellow.Really could do with a flashing yellow

It's not too bad if you take the wrong route at Cogload, in most cases you can get still get to your destination although you will arrive late.Maybe, I was thinking of advance indication that isn't restrictive if you see what I mean...
