Tube connection is now only at the Farringdon end but there is still an Elizabeth line exit at Barbican.

(There is still a direct link for wheelchairs to the tube in one direction at Barbican).

Farringdon Crossrail has a new street entrance physically very near to the west end of Barbican’s platforms, but it’s not a “full featured high capacity interchange” with Barbican station itself.

It was sometimes referred to as the Charterhouse St entrance but I don’t think it’s on that street either, as actually built.

As part of my job as transport correspondent at BBC London, I've covered most of the construction of Crossrail. It has been a unique project with twists and turns and, unfortunately, some tragedies along the way.
In terms of budget, Crossrail cost more than the Olympics. It will also arguably change London more, too.
Ahead of the line opening on 24 May, I thought it was a good time to recount how covering Crossrail morphed from the perfect project, to a nightmare, to where we are now.

Symbolic perhaps, but the whole concept of buying tickets (as opposed to using Oyster or contactless) is pretty anachronistic these days!

There is a picture of the plaque on this news link, apparently was fixed 8 inches lower than the one intended for her son, as Queen is shorter.

It would appear that it was a chance whether The Queen would be able to turn up, so Edward came, was announced to all the guests, had the plaque prepared and in position with his name on it, under the curtain, etc. Last minute and Her Majesty arrives, another plaque had been prepared on standby, along with fixings, last minute bit of workmanship to change them over, doubtless by all wielding the tools while in their best suits ( ), and on it went.

For a project that had so many organisational difficulties along the way you have to admire this last minute effort.

I believe the Bakerloo link that was eventually built is at a much lower level than what was originally planned, to avoid digging up the lawn area. Maybe the original proposed District/Circle link was changed too?

Bakerloo and praed Street have a common gateline . It's the suburban platforms 15/16 that have a seperate gateline . And will continue to do so when crossrail is fully opened

I’m only thinking about whether there’s a paid side direct route from the Crossrail platform or concourse area to Praed St. A short cut if you like? Obviously as you say Praed St and the Bakerloo retain their existing paid side links.

Yes – according to ITV News

VIP guests waiting at Paddington today were told to expect the Earl of Wessex in place of the monarch.
A plaque bearing his name was positioned behind purple curtains.
But a furry of activity in the Elizabeth Line ticket hall at 1015 saw the shiny metal sign replaced by a new one announcing: Elizabeth Line. Officially opened by Her Majesty the Queen.
The new plaque was fixed in place eight inches below the original to account for the difference in height between the Queen and her son.
