Given how long these are taking to deliver - is there a yard in Europe storing them, or did they just stop / slow down production ?
Nearly all built, if not already.....no idea where they're being kept though......

Excellent find - cheers.https://twitter.com/andybtravels/status/1427298208842199045 I saw this video a while ago. It says they were at Siedlce.
The last one of the initial tranche, 777053, was said to be in build last October. There is an option for a further 59 sets. The completed units remain Stadler property until Merseytravel accept them, one at a time, a process which for the sets awaiting delivery will include 500 miles of fault free running on the Merseyrail system. Most of the 14 units already in the UK have now met that requirement.Excellent find - cheers.
Lets hope the Scousers get them before the Russians !!
Shame the Liverpool Echo doesn't use it to shame MerseyRail in coming clean about what is going on.https://twitter.com/andybtravels/status/1427298208842199045 I saw this video a while ago. It says they were at Siedlce.
Sounds like a normal day in Liverpool.....Shame the Liverpool Echo doesn't use it to shame MerseyRail in coming clean about what is going on.
Council tax payers within Liverpool Combined Authority have to pay a levy to support MerseyTravel so you would think local politicians would be kicking up a fuss.

Do the Russians have any 3rd rail to run them on?Excellent find - cheers.

So they have all been in existence for some time now. Have any already been fitted with batteries or would it make more sense to fit them to the ones already here? There is an option to order up to another 59 sets at a fixed price. Of course more can be ordered after that, but they will cost more. The question then comes where they will find the depot space for those because even with all 507/508s gone they couldn’t stable an additional 59.The last one of the initial tranche, 777053, was said to be in build last October. As to further delivery dates, a decision seems to have been made to suspend matters until at least some of the 14 are in traffic, enabling more 508s to be withdrawn, creating space at Kirkdale Depot. In the meantime, the other 39 are understood to be at the Stadler plants in Switzerland and Poland.
But what do you think is going on? 14 units (more than enough) are undergoing fault free mileage accumulation on the network, which has now become obvious to anyone with eyes and now once agreements have been made with the unions about a method of operation for them, a big enough pool of drivers and guards can be trained to reliably operate services to Kirkby with 7 units operating 3 diagrams and some of the spares allowing for further training. Only then can more 508s be scrapped to allow deliveries to resume.Shame the Liverpool Echo doesn't use it to shame MerseyRail in coming clean about what is going on.

YesThere's a meeting of the Liverpool City Region travel committee on the 10th, perhaps there will be an update after that.
They don’t pay for them until they’ve completed their mileage accumulation runs and are formally accepted. The trains sitting idle in Europe aren’t costing Merseytravel anything.Shame the Liverpool Echo doesn't use it to shame MerseyRail in coming clean about what is going on.

LCA quarterly financial reports indicate they have been making stage payments - remember they are funding the build themselves not through a leasing company. The contract payment terms aren't in public domain but stage payments with 20-30% on acceptance would be pretty standard commercial arrangement so I would suggest that LCA have incurred some hefty sums already on behalf of local taxpayers without anything to show for it. Reality is bigger things drive politics in the LCA area rather than a few hundred million on trains that aren't being used. They don’t pay for them until they’ve completed their mileage accumulation runs and are formally accepted. It’s not just trains they’ve bought. The depot rebuild, 508/507 maintenance and its staff are all done and need paying for.LCA quarterly financial reports indicate they have been making stage payments - remember they are funding the build themselves not through a leasing company. They have but rolling stock is over half this years budget and this is the third year they've been making payments for new rolling stock. Actually the real villains are NR who have massively overspent on the power and station upgrade. It’s not just trains they’ve bought. Doesn't look like there's anything about the 777s down to be discussed:There's a meeting of the Liverpool City Region travel committee on the 10th, perhaps there will be an update after that.
Some snippets in the financial report like they've saved 0.4m on marketing costs due to ongoing delays with new trains introduction. They also sayDoesn't look like there's anything about the 777s down to be discussed:
So they have spent several 100m on the 777's already and half of them are sitting in Europe still. An overspend on the manufacture & supply agreement (MSA) contract [with Stadler]of circa £10m has arisen due to changes in production schedule and payment profile
I think the total cost is around £460 million give or take and that are two thirds of the fleet in Poland and Switzerland. Personally, I am not unduly worried, once the 'agreement' is in place, then things will start moving, ok may be two years later than planned but Merseytravel will get there eventually. So they have spent several 100m on the 777's already and half of them are sitting in Europe still.
once guards dispute is sorted and trained enough staff neither has happened yetAnyone know when the 777 will commence normal service please?
I was speaking to a guard on a Chester to Liverpool service on Saturday who told me September has been mooted for service introduction.once guards dispute is sorted and trained enough staff neither has happened yetI was speaking to a guard on a Chester train on Saturday, who told me September has been mooted for service introduction
049 should be one of the seven sets fitted with a larger version of the batteries that were test fitted to 002 last summer. It’s arrival now would allow testing to determine just how far a set can travel on battery power alone.Seems 3 sets may be heading towards the UK at the moment from a posting on Facebook a couple of days back, 777013, 777015 and a bit of a jump to set 777049. I have heard a bit of a mixture of stories that they both definitely will and definitely won’t enter service in either September, November or this year on the Ormskirk and/or Kirkby lines.I was speaking to a guard on a Chester to Liverpool service on Saturday who told me September has been mooted for service introduction.
Where will it be able to do a long enough test run to completely drain the battery and still be on the third rail for when it does?049 should be one of the seven sets fitted with a larger version of the batteries that were test fitted to 002 last summer. Here's a prediction: Merseyrail goes bankrupt and the Government steps in as an operator of last resort and the new trains finally come in.I have heard a bit of a mixture of stories that they both definitely will and definitely won’t enter service in either September, November or this year on the Ormskirk and/or Kirkby lines.

DfT won't do that, it would be Merseytravel's responsibility to find another operator. Here's a prediction: Merseyrail goes bankrupt and the Government steps in as an operator of last resort and the new trains finally come in.

More likely MerseyTravel (the Combined Authority) would step in so that they can operate it directly and thus make Mr Burnham even more envious. Here's a prediction: Merseyrail goes bankrupt and the Government steps in as an operator of last resort and the new trains finally come in.
As for battery tests, I'd assume they can lift their shoes, like 73s. Do that on the third rail network and you shouldn't have to worry about anything.
