To clarify then; it came back freshly repaired, hasn't been used since and is now being scrapped?According to someone on Twitter, 455847, SWR's oldest 455 numerically is the next 455 to be leaving. Has that even been in service this year? It returned from side-swipe damage around January last year I think but still hasn't re-entered traffic sadly.
Is it Alstom? I thought it was ASLEF saying they didn't like the cabsAlstom better pull their fingers out to get those 701s into service then, otherwise we’ll have a situation with (not working) new replacing old.
There's more issues than cab design. Like doors opening at speed. Is it Alstom? I thought it was ASLEF saying they didn't like the cabs
If it was the original plan before the 701s became very late (they’ve been very late for many months now) I feel as though we wouldn’t only be hearing it now, so much later on.Apols if we've already covered this, but would it be right to assume that Feb '22 was the scheduled 456 withdrawal date based on the 701s going to plan? Or is this a more recent decision?
Have they not got to the bottom of that yet? There's more issues than cab design. Like doors opening at speed.
According to posts on Twitter last night / this morning, 455 847 has already followed 455 726 out of Wimbledon; are any more going imminently or just those two?According to someone on Twitter, 455847, SWR's oldest 455 numerically is the next 455 to be leaving. Been reported they are now at LM for storageAccording to posts on Twitter last night / this morning, 455 847 has already followed 455 726 out of Wimbledon; are any more going imminently or just those two?
Think that’s all for now but believe there’s a few more to leave in the near future which have already stopped running. There’s also a few more to be withdrawn from service in February.According to posts on Twitter last night / this morning, 455 847 has already followed 455 726 out of Wimbledon; are any more going imminently or just those two?

If you go to page 1 of this thread there's a list of all the Metro fleet on there, the 3 greyed out 455's I believe are the next ones to leave, and has which ones come off lease in Feb.Which are these please?
The list on page one belongs to @TT-ONR-NRN - the member who asked the question. Is he really asking if anyone knows any more details? If you go to page 1 of this thread there's a list of all the Metro fleet on there, the 3 greyed out 455's I believe are the next ones to leave, and has which ones come off lease in Feb.

Whats the estimated need for Dec 2022 reduced timetable?Disbelieve it if it makes you feel better. The pre-covid timetable meant 82 x 455 and 20 x 456 were required and 32 x 458 and 28 x 707 were in use and not in the depot. Current requirements are far less so a lot of the units are on depot, plus having 3 10 car 701s onsite plus the dead units that can't be shuffled and our visitors for the lathe meant it was gridlock.
Sorry mate it’s been a long weekI know my friend I made itI wondered if there were further updates to what is already listed.
.Can't remember the exact date, but I would guess it's because of stock shortages. When did the 455+455+456 end?
2 diagrams booked 4-450 on those circuits today.Have seen a single 450 on a Chessy and a Guildford via Leatherhead this morning... things must be getting down to wire with mileages?
23rd September was the last time I had one. Next had 456s on the 27th September as 455+456+456. It was sometime around then they stopped regularly running as 10-cars although there has been the odd one since then. When did the 455+455+456 end?

They arent being life extended though. Neither the 456s or 455s have even reached the end of life point yet.And lack of passengers which means it’s not economical to life extend the legacy rolling stock.

doing bogies and brakes is bog standard C3 task done on mileage like a service on your car. life extension is dealing with body corrosion which would be main reason for not keeping them in traffic as that means stripping it down to raw metal. What SWT did to bodywork when they refurbished the interiors many years im not aware of.Yes they have, they have reached the overhaul point where life extension is needed (heavy exams) or withdrawal. In these cases the exams have not been authorised so the units have been stopped. Every major exam is a form a life extension to keep a unit in traffic for another X miles.
Usually in pairs coupled to a 455 onWhat routes do the Class 456s do? I've not been on that class.
I think the point is that they've gone on beyond what was expected when the franchise was awarded in 2017. They should have mostly if not all gone by now.doing bogies and brakes is bog standard C3 task done on mileage like a service on your car. life extension is dealing with body corrosion which would be main reason for not keeping them in traffic as that means stripping it down to raw metal. Yes, but SWR are making savings by not leasing their replacements and no doubt pocketing some significant penalty payments for late delivery from Bombardier/Alstom. It's certainly not an excuse for the poor service being delivered currently.I think the point is that they've gone on beyond what was expected when the franchise was awarded in 2017. They should have mostly if not all gone by now.
doesn't mean they are life expired though and perhaps just as well SWT had the foresight to retraction them given they are going to be mainstay of the metro for at least another 12mths and thats a rolling 12mths with the lack of progress on getting 701's into traffic.I think the point is that they've gone on beyond what was expected when the franchise was awarded in 2017.
