In terms of Transpennine electrification, I would electrify these routes(I know this is off topic but it is Transpennine wiring so..)
Preston to Hebden Bridge(carrying on the Calder Valley line wiring)
Manchester to Leeds via Bradford and Dewsbury(including Todmorden Curve)
Manchester to Leeds via Huddersfield
Manchester to Sheffield via Belle Vue and Brinnington, Hyde Central, Romiley and Marple and via Disley and Buxworth(I would wire the spur to Rose Hill Marple)
Reopening of the Monsal Dale line(Bakewell route) and electrifying torwards Market Harbrough and Corby(with wiring via Ambergate North Curve towards Sheffield
This would mean from north to south we would have 5 wired Transpennine routes(remember the Peak District counts as the Pennines) and quash any hopes of Woodhead reopening

You don’t need to do any of that to quash hopes of Woodhead reopening!

I know that, but my plans would definetly quash hopes of Woodhead reopening
It's a rather 'novel' suggestion to spend £billions reopening closed lines and electrifying, just to make sure another line doesn't get reopened!

Woodhead doesn't need reopening anyways, after all, as someone said very early on said, Network Rail did a study called the Northern Way and they said that it was more cost effective to upgrade and electrify the Hope Valley Line

By the time they get around to electrifying the Hope Valley line, it’ll probably be 100 years s8nce the closure of the then electrified route via Woodhead! Electrification must happen if course, but I can only hope for a major scheme announcement with multiple lines.

It should happen(Hope Valley line electrification) as part of NPR, or dare I say it, HS3.

Does anyone know when the Huddersfield to Leeds work is forecast to be completed?

Electrification through Totley and Cowburn tunnels would/will require some very major blockades. Long total blockades may be better than interminable short blocks over a greatly extended period. To allow access to the Hope Valley cement works it would probably have to be different blockades for each tunnel to permit continued access from at least one end. Think x (insert any number you like) months of through route passenger blockades. Stoppers could work from Piccadilly to Grindleford, Hathersage or Hope, or from Sheffield up to Hope or Edale for leisure and local traffic.

With a crystal ball it would have been an ideal opportunity to get it all done in 2020/21. It's going to be controversial and 2030s may be an over optimistic estimate!

Hope valley upgrade will not be an OCS compliant design so will not have to consider any potential future placement of any OCS equipment. Which means it is not going to be electrified anytime soon.

Discontinuous electrification, Flirts and Class 93s will be the order of the day ;)

Just electrify the whole TransPennine network as part of a rolling program. I don't think TPE serve anywhere which is on a line too lightly use to justify it.

As a general rule I agree. The only marginal case would be York to Scarborough with only 1tph per direction (plus the proposed additional Northern shuttle if that still happens). Even that route would be worth doing to avoid a diesel island (well, more like a diesel peninsula) on an otherwise all-electric operation.
