I am still learning how to interpret the rules of this game. As I read it you can pick any destination accessible from a service departing in the two hour window, but should always take the first service going there. However you don't have to board the first available service irrespective of destination. Is that correct?

My understanding of the above matter, and the guidelines in the first post support this, is that all posts must be made within the two hour window (unless of a very limited service such as can be found in rural Yorkshire or the Highlands), but if there are frequent services and many different modes of transport available then we should play immediately. For example, if we get to Edinburgh at say 10am, then a move should be posted in relatively quick succession (when allowing for the minimum connection time), as there are plenty of services to a wide range of destinations by rail, bus and tram in the meantime. Just because there is a service to X at say, 11:59am, that would be unreasonable when there are plenty of services beforehand, which has happened a lot in previous moves on this game. Whereas at Arbroath for instance, there are only six services and it was only an hour for the sleeper, so that was permitted. Whilst entirely fictional, it's also down to being realistic.

There is a seven minute walk along City Road to Chester railway station first; not that it matters as the service in question is well within the time scale.

It's entirely up to you if the move was open. As it's gone 11 o'clock (we are permitted to take an overnight break between 11pm-5am)*, we could stop off for the night and return the next morning.

Seeing as we're in Birmingham, which still has plenty going on, we'll continue on and take the six minute walk to Colmore Row, where we board the 0020 National Express West Midlands Platinum service 9 to Halesowen (Bus Station), arriving there at 0055 in the early hours of Thursday morning.

(* for me, the only exception to this rule would be in London, which basically never stops, so I think stopping off overnight in London wouldn't be acceptable personally).

Well the only thing you can do is here is alight at Colmore Row. You can't post two separate moves, even if it involves walking. Also, whilst we'll let it slip on this occasion, we do try to avoid returning to where we've just come from, unless we are in a settlement that is only served by one route.

We also need an arrival time and the day of the week, which in this case is 0546 on Thursday morning. The departure of that service is also 0510 (so the 0510 service 9 to Birmingham Colmore Row, arriving there at 0546 on Thursday).

From Colmore Row, we then board the 0615 National Express West Midlands service 12 to Oldbury (Interchange), arriving there at 0650 on Thursday morning.
