Them seats look close together! Is that normal for a 153? (Never been on one)
thanks for the info153323 has been at Long Marston almost as long.

Definitely as close together as they've been on all ex-Wales & West units since their new millennium refits. With the accessible toilet this unit has 59 seats; I believe it had 65-70 seats without it (65 sounds right)Them seats look close together! Is that normal for a 153? (Never been on one)

Is this 153 actually PRM compliant? Can you get a wheelchair down the central aisle to the accessible toilet at the other end from the wheelchair space?
Are TfW realistically going to get all 18 of their 153s fully PRM compliant before Christmas though? (Inc the 5 now coming from GA) as well as however many 150/2s they have left to do?
The toilet has moved to the big cab end of the set, so wheelchair space is right next to the loo. Looks like the old toilet has been taken out for more bike/buggy storage. But could be wrong. I'm only going from the video.
I'm sure all will be clear in timeApologies I missed the quick shot of the toilet. I wonder where the tank is?
Just wanted to get something out there! This (325) is one of the ex-South Devon advertising wrapped GWR units; it and 333 can be seen in my video from April, and in that they're the two tatty ex-London Midland green ones at the front of the delivery train (with blue and pink units 329/361/369 on the back). The next one to come back from works at Long Marston, 323, is an ex-ATW unit however. I did think after I posted that it was more like 70 seats previouslyMost 153s I've been on have 72 seats plus 3 tip ups (Northern, GWR, EMT etc) but I can't remember if the TfW ones are the same
seemed to be full refurb when I looked through the window!Have they had the full internal refurbishment works or just PRM and a little tidy up?
21 150/2s remain non-compliant, 11 (or 16 with the ex-GAs) 153s remain non-compliant, and 4 158s remain non-compliant but I reckon the 158s will all be done by the end of the year. As for the 32 (37 with the ex-GA 153s) non-compliant 150/153s, most of those will surely still be non-compliant at the end of the year and will require dispensations, not just the Pacers and Mk2s/Mk3s.Are TfW realistically going to get all 18 of their 153s fully PRM compliant before Christmas though? 153333 in TfW Livery as wellA 153 has gone on a gauging run to Blaenau Ffestiniog this afternoon. It is about 14 years since one last ran up there
Wow, nice! Should get cleared then...?A 153 has gone on a gauging run to Blaenau Ffestiniog this afternoon. It is about 14 years since one last ran up there
thanks for the infoGone to test the level crossing at Glan Conwy too.

Not only very honest, but also very readable to a lay audience. (Comparing the timescale of a new-build stock to a new-build house, and explaining rail jargon to the reader.)That's actually a very honest message. Chwarae teg.
Thank you for the analysis regardless, and I'm sure it will roll past a platform-end photographer soon enough for the rest of us.Having now seen really good photos of inside 153325, I can confirm that there has been a UAT fitted in the big cab end. The old bog has been completely removed and there are a couple of pull down seats between the emergancy cupboard and the passenger door.
Difference is amazing TBF. Done a really good job. Just a shame the unit is so small.
(Shared internally, so don't ask)

Hmmm!I've just noticed the dog that didn't bark: in neither the extra capacity press release, the Welsh Government statement nor the public letter was there any mention of the class 230s.
Interesting...

Who said the 153s were coming off in 2020...? As far as classes used by ATW until the end of that franchise, it has long been the plan for them to continue with TfW to 2022-23 alongside the 150s, 158s and 175s! Any 2-car or 4-car formations with 153 vehicles will be normal multi working of 2 or 4 153 units respectively - no 155 recreation will happen with the doubled up cabs, toilets, lights/systems etc on 153s.Interesting. Can't have done that to bin them off by the end of the year. Perhaps they do have a future reformed into 2 car sets then?
