Classic Coaches operate the Blackpool - Newcastle run that calls in at Lancaster around 1615....

Not good news at all. :(

From what I've just seen on Lookaround, the crash was head on and involved a Caetano Algarve II and Hadrians Wall vinyled Optare Solo operated by Classic of Anfield Plain.

Anyway, other observations from today:
Travellers Choice have their first 10 plate in the form of (what looks like) a B12B/VDL Jonckherre.

The three new Jonckheere bodied Volvo B12B's, were delivered when I was at my sisters in Devon. There had their number plates fitted last Thursday (25th). The Registrations are PN10 GJU, PN10 GJV, & PN10 GJX.

Stagecoach are having a crackdown on school passes being used in areas where they aren't valid (we had an inspector all the way to Carnforth on the 1520)

If it is the same inspector, that was checking the university buses this morning. Then he is based at Kendal depot.

Oh, is he off to do a week at Kendal now?

I know the reason he stayed on the 555 was to get back home to Crag Bank :P

Never seen him on the 0705 556 before, except at B-L-S, doing the minimum stops (He sets off from Crag Bank on a 55, checks tickets before getting off ASAP, then checks a 55A before joining the 556 to Skerton Bridge, then swapping to the next uni service.)

Connections to Carlisle branded 24122 on 79 again.
20977 on 179.
52626 and 52408 on 685.
52405 on 600.
14206 was at bus station with "PRIVATE HIRE" on roller blinds. it had people on, but they then got off onto 16355, which had "Morrisons Penrith" on the bright tech.
20761 and Paladin 20994 on Carlisle 300.

20908, 14268, 14247, 14254, 20959, 20943, 34694, a E300 and Osprey Bus in workshop areas.
34706, 42094, 16336, 14209 and 34048 were sat outside the big shed.
20944 on steam cleaner lift thing.
42090 still in back corner. the wrecker was in the corner as well.

a few elderly passengers on the 179 were moaning and groaning earlier! it was an E300. some of them were sitting on the side facing tip-up seats, but they had to move because a pushchair and a wheelchair wanted on. they were pretty reluctant to move!

18355 nearly came to grief at Borwick this evening - coming round a corner it came up behind a horse which bolted. There was nothing more the driver could have done and tbh the horse wasn't fit to be walking on the road. The rider was definitely not happy when the CCTV cameras were pointed out. Neither were the moaning women on the top deck happy when I pointed out that it wasn't the driver's fault and there was nothing he could have done. They did take my advice of shutting up or risking being thrown off :P

And another failure correctly predicted by yours truly!

Old People, or as the Political Correctness Squad would have me describe them, "Senior Citizens" are the biggest pain in the ass in the world wherever they may be! the whole world is expected to shift for them, and can't handle it when they are the ones made to "move along" for other people! i bet there were plenty more seats available to them not too far down the bus!

When I was 12 years old (quite a few years ago now!) I was sat on the "priority seats for the elderly or disabled" at the front of an L-Reg Volvo B6, with two completely dislocated kneecaps, all the ligaments torn off the bone, and (slowly) hobbling around on two crutches, the driver made me move to the back of the full bus to allow a fully able bodied old man, sorry, senior citizen, to take my seat! To this day, this tainted my view of this generation! (My mother did complain, and i got free travel on stagecoach services for a month, but still, it sholuld never have happened in the first place!!)

I do apologise if that little rant upsets anyone, but my far-right views on such things are what makes up my rather wonky outlook on life!

Also, today i spotted LL's Fiesta Fitter Van 92908 outside my work (Original Factory Shop, Maryport), it went past with who i think is the workington station manager at the wheel, three times! I am guessing he was doing laps of the town centre looking for the bus which was running the 56/57 services, which I hadn't spotted for quite a time before this, and didn't get the number of to report here! :D

Heard today that Lancaster is due a new ticket system later this year. By this I mean new ticket machines. This also apparently includes 2 hand held ticket machines for use at the University. I assume the new ticket system is a national thing...?

assuming that is the dreaded switch to ERG ticket machines :( from what i've heard from other area's, they're not great! freeze up just as much as the Wayfarers, and the ticket sizes that come out of the machine are rather random! sometimes you can get the standard pre-set size, and other times, you could end up with a metre long ticket! (ok, bit of an exaggeration there, but they can come out bigger than they're supposed to!). they're not terrifically great to read the info on them either! small font, and the details are rather close together!

33167, 33169 and 47023 on Harrington and 101.
47059 on 51.
16653 on Workington - Whitehaven 300.
20757, 20952 and 42565 on annexe.

ERG most likely, which presumably means 28xxx (Scania N113/Alexander) will appear to train drivers on the new system.

I've sampled these ERG machines in Newcastle (SCNE).... they're awful. Verging on illegible!

K768DAO is out doing circles on the 300 with 16651

It was planned several years ago that group would go onto wireless ERG machines, it has just taken a couple of years to let the technolgy get developed. Oxford should be the first to go live shortly

A STUDENT is fighting for her life after being hit by a bus in Lancaster city centre.
The 20 year-old had just got off a private coach opposite Sainsbury's in Cable Street at 3.30am this morning when she was hit by a Stagecoach double decker bus.

She was first taken to the Royal Lancaster Infirmary but then transferred to the Royal Preston Hospital at 7.15am where she is in a critical condition.

The road was closed by police until 5.51am.

Anyone who witnessed the incident should call police on 01524 63333.
