Can't believe that B10M PS has been sent for scrap with those seats left in it!
Surely the seats could have been removed for further use?!

Ah, must have been the Ridge working I saw it on then Gez, I only saw it from the side/rear and as it hasn't got a functioning rear display, I had to gues.

I understand Scania's 15567, 15568 & 15571 were in service today from Chorley with Tridents 18148, 18158 & 18159 working at Preston

I wonder what's replaced 20776 at KL then? Unless it's just 20219 back from repaint/refurb or whatever it went for.

Dont worry its not 20306 thats still parked in the corner of the back fence outside the bus wash at morecambe.
I will have a look tomorrow or thursday, 16657 is moving into the paint shop this week

I must say those Chorley Scanias do look the part, saw a couple around the bus station and couldnt help but think the rear roof dome reminded me of a VR

Had 40028 on the Cockermouth 600 last week, what a bus! Will be interesting to see what 47005/6 are like for speed in comparison with the PO51 examples! They can't be much worse, oh well, at least they're getting refurbs!

Thats it the Comission have spoken - Stagecoach must sell Preston Bus - just seen it on the LEP Website. What a joke, wonder who will want to but it then. All those Lynxes and Metroriders will be out of Lillyhall and back down the road then I take it!!

One notiable thing, there are no restrictions, it seems, on Stagecoach competing with the incumbent operator. I'll tell you this, that'll put a lot of people off. And I'll tell you something else, don't be surprised to see Stagecoach have, what I call, marginal fares, before the sale, and keeping them at a low level, to make things awkward for the new owners, indeed, if anyone does buy it.

"The Commission decision is to restore a failed monopoly provider of local bus services and reverse the results of legitimate competition, which it is supposed to uphold.
"This decision risks setting a dangerous precedent for all sectors of the economy.
"What bus passengers, employees and local authorities want is a stable, comprehensive network of services and tickets, which Stagecoach has sought to provide.
"The Commission decision will ensure a further period of instability and uncertainty against the public interest.
"We shall consider the decision in detail before deciding on our next course of action."

I hope they appeal. In reality when SC hand it over to someone else its going to go down the pan again unless they are one of the big operators and have the resources to keep it on its feet. I guess the CC are hoping that companies like Arriva or First will reconsider buying PB as a small operator would be a disaster.

I think if SC take this to appeal, and can prove that selling to another major operator is not a good idea, then they'll get told to divest some routes and a few buses, rather than the whole lot.
I can't think of any other city in the UK where 2 large companies compete route for route, so this is a rather backwards step.

A bad decision under the circumstances. I didn't agree with the "bus war" when it started because I knew what the eventual outcome would be. I've seen all this before, both from the inside and outside. I was involved not only with the Preston Bus situation, but the Lancaster City Transport one as well. However, now that things have settled down in Preston, I think it was probably the best outcome. It's common knowledge that Preston Bus would have failed within a couple of months if Stagecoach had not stepped in. This is why it is a bad decision.
The CC are now going to cause yet another period of uncertainty for the bus users of Preston whilst someone comes up with an offer that they think is acceptable. I would assume also that if and when someone purchases the "new" Preston Bus, they are going to have to take on the very large hole in the pensions scheme. This is the main reason why no one wanted it before. Stagecoach were willing to plug this hole.
I certainly hope that Stagecoach appeal, but even this will cause another period of uncertainty and the outcome may well still be same.

This is what I don't get - selling LCT was perfectly OK, and now Lancaster is more SC than Preston ever will be!
I think that if Stagecoach approach all the major operators and get a "no", then they
will have reasonable evidence to support their appeal.
