No, Willie Wallace went to Willie Lows as a proper Scottish supermarket. They were still going in those days. Tesco only bought them out after his death.Behind an ASDA? He stuck me as more a Lidl kind of guy.
I wondered where 08648 has gone to.Nothing to do with catering staff. The facts are: The pair are there for maintenance training and will be departing south again in a couple of weeks time when the driver training set arrives in Inverness. There are also a coupe of Mk3s in the wagon shops (adjacent to P1/2) and these are again for maintenance staff training. A shunting loco (08648) has also arrived for driver training- it is the ex-Grand Central liveried one- and is fitted with a buckeye. the other shunter will be remaining for the time being as it is on hire for the sleeper shunting. What its future will be after the Mk5s arrive is unknown at present.
HTH
I guess it gives SR a little more time for driver training and Brush the time to refurbish more power cars in tie ready for late introduction.AFAIK Set X03 XC (7 MK3 trailers + 5 spares) is
under conversion. First Scotrail 4-car set is nearing completion. 2 spare ex-GWR trailers with another 4 recently delivered for the second 'Castle or Class 255' set to be done later this year. At the moment 2 sets are being done. Don't know what the delivery schedule is, but i'd assume production should ramp up after the first XC and Scotrail sets are finally delivered. Delays have been corrosion and resourcing issues.
I dont know much more than you but I would imagine they would repair it because its one that's not going off until May or June.AIUI, the power car that got burned at Penzance (43138) is one of the cars earmarked for ScotRail - does anyone more informed than myself know if it's going to be repaired?

Arrrrrggggghhhhh.I dont know much more than you but I would imagine they would repair it because its one that's not going off until May or June.

Why is it that when someone asks a question asking if someone knows more, there always has to be someone who pipes up who has to say "I imagine that..." i.e. they don't have any more idea than the original poster? If you have nothing to add, say nothing!
For the record, 43138 is at Laira and had no expected release date showing - anyone who knows more will be a GWR or Angel fleet engineer.
Paired with 43011 I believe............43173, I think, at Inverness shed tonight.
That would be the most sensible option, but it would have to be an Angel trains owned power car I think as they are the only ones that Scotrail are using. So far Scotrail has not changed any of the power cars that were originally going to them, whether they will.Would it not be easier to swap for an undamaged power car that GWR won't be retaining?
the bean counters at Angel will be taking a close look at the repair cost with a view to stripping for spares, scrapping and substitute an alternative unit, or repair. As always it will come down to £. There's an interesting thread elsewhere about insurance for such incidents, which this would come under. That would be the most sensible option, but it would have to be an Angel trains owned power car I think as they are the only ones that Scotrail are using. Responsibility for repair rests with GWR. As far as Angel are concerned they expect to get 43138 back at the end of the lease in an acceptable operational condition.the bean counters at Angel will be taking a close look at the repair cost with a view to stripping for spares, scrapping and substitute an alternative unit, or repair. Wibble, I know - but - with First Rail Holdings acquiring written off 43195 as a Christmas tree unit, you have to wonder if they would perhaps prefer to do that, depending on the cost differential.Responsibility for repair rests with GWR. 43195 is rather different in that Porterbrook have no further lease for it agreed and little prospect of getting all their HSTs back on lease.Wibble, I know - but - with First Rail Holdings acquiring written off 43195 as a Christmas tree unit, you have to wonder if they would perhaps prefer to do that, depending on the cost differential.
True, hence wibble. It would, of course, be preferable to see it in service than ending up at Booths and the like.43195 is rather different in that Porterbrook have no further lease for it agreed and little prospect of getting all their HSTs back on lease.

I assume you mean 43138?I can’t imagine Angel Trains being too bothered about whether 43195 is or is not one of the locos that they receive back. As long as they have enough serviceable Class 43s for future needs.
I'm sorry loving HST's and all that but 43195 wont happen its been condemned as spares. 43138 has a more likely chance of revival.True, hence wibble. It would, of course, be preferable to see it in service than ending up at Booths and the like.![]()

Will that be the first one scrapped then?
