London Overground will not run Dalston Jn - New Cross circuits tomorrow due to a shortage of trains caused by weather-related damage. ELL may become pretty overcrowded. Other services should run.

Why will it take six days to fix a points failure?

Hull Trains semi normal service collapses this morning.

So what remaining (significant) disruptions do we have? On 05/03 I count:

• The Heart of Wales line shut
• Conwy Velly line shut
• Hull Trains are struggling and just doing Hull-Doncaster
• Leeds-Kings Cross is running on a reduced service by VETC - around 7/8 cancellations each way
• The Looe Valley line is shut - flooding, but I presume this is snowmelt related
• Guildford

A few other cancellations here and there but not bad for the start of the new week!

Cracked crossing at Wokingham so the points can’t be swung. They’ve been locked into position for the Waterloo services. Also effecting Great Western NDL services.

Only just caught up with this thread.

(Assuming the weather doesn't further get in the way) I suspect VTEC will now be trying to run as much as they can, as from yesterday onwards - hence the full timetable but with specific cancellations.

I would still expect a few cancellations over the next few days while sets and crews get back in place - obviously also any sets which have failed during the disruption will need to get repaired at a suitable location now too.

I'd imagine the Control + Planning teams will be looking on a daily basis to see how many sets are serviceable and taking it from there.

The HOWL is solely weather related. Inspections are being made today with a view to re-opening tomorrow. Fingers crossed.

This abysmal reliability has been ongoing for various reasons for months. Even before the damaged 180. If they where a normal TOC with such few services per day their PPM figures would be quite an embarresment. Expect they are pinning all hopes on the 802s.

Severe weather. That is the general sweeping statement we get from them.

Half the services cancelled again tomorrow due to severe weather.
Its the same 50% of services that were cancelled before the severe weather but merely coincidence!

That’s not correct. You’re conflating the duty to provide care, accommodation and subsistence with the duty to pay compensation under EC261.

An airline may legitimately decline to pay compensation under that regulation if the delay or cancellation was caused by a factor outside the airline’s control.

An airline must however *always* provide overnight accommodation, care and subsistence regardless of the cause of the delay.

Thanks for that and apologies for getting it wrong. I hadn't realised there is a distinction between whether they pay compensation or pay for accommodation or both. Good to know for future, too, as I imagine some airlines are more reluctant than others to do so!
