Kings X has just one VT set in the station atm (1F54) that is currently down to run Kings x to P'boro at 20:30
This really is poor

from NRE

"Trains from Doncaster towards Peterborough are NOW able to run
. Trains are being significantly delayed due to them being trapped behind the failed train. Some services will be cancelled or revised. Due to engineering work trains between Doncaster and Peterborough are being diverted via Lincoln today.

Trains from Kings Cross towards Doncaster are being delayed by up to 15 minutes."

In reality the last train to leave KX for the north was the 1S28 1649 Edinburgh now 100 late.

1619 KX Leeds left Peterborough 180 late not sure if it was waiting a diesel or crew
1728 Leeds, 1749 Edinburgh 1849 Newcastle cancelled on RTT, 1749 Edinburgh shown as departing 2058 on NRE departures.

That does seem very misleading informamation, I know they are really struggling to provide a service, but communication is importatnt particularly if you are awaiting people to arrive

I was thinking that. This surely must be a sign of utter desperation from VTEC control?

I can imagine they'll have to be sourced from further afield, can't see many local operators being able to get out on a Sunday night. You never know though!

Is 1A43 still stuck at Spalding? We've just departed Newark Northgate on-time, but I'm concerned we aren't going to be getting very far...

On a separate note, it seems like the communication from VTEC and National Rail has been utterly abysmal this evening. Endless Tweets from various points up and down the route claiming no/incorrect information is being given out.

You will be 7th in the queue waiting to for 1A43 to move could be a while depending on how bad the damage is

A colleague of mine has been writing on Facebook from one of the trains sat outside Spalding station (for about 4 hours but got moving about an hour ago?); she has many kind words to say about staff, so well done to those on board who have done what they can - good to read that staff's efforts are appreciated.

Edit - in fact she's just reported arriving, so she must have been on 1E13, 235 minutes late!

That set won't be going anywhere other than Bound Green I'd have thought considering there's a smashed through window on it.

This seems to be a common theme on the East Coast of late. Surely VTEC should have become very used to dealing with major cockups like this; and surely somebody upstairs is wanting to know why on earth they keep messing up so badly?

Does anyone know what the fault was on 67028??? One, and I stress one, post on social media suggests it ran out of fuel which I'd be surprised about...

I've heard the same that it ran out of fuel no idea if this is true or not

If the last two posts are true, both are surely very severe reprimands?!

Almost everything that's happened today has been out of their control. The choice to close the main line all day wasn't theirs, nor was the train on fire. The rock that went through the window was certainly not theirs (although they may decide to keep it). Even the loco that packed up was only hired in by them. Sounds like they learned enough from the last Sunday debacle to at least be able to get some coaches mobilised quickly. I'm certainly not comfortable with the idea of taking the East Coast on a Sunday right now, but I'm not sure I'm keen to blame them.
