Journey check reporting the 08.36 Bristol to Avonmouth and return are cancelled due to a broken down train. Not a great start if this is one of the Turbos!!

Were they originally meant to be cascaded for services down to Taunton? What about Exeter?

It isn't, and although delayed by wiring problems, would never have been an instant transfer.

There'll be many more Turbos about from January when the next major step in wiring is completed, and Paddington to Reading and Didcot stoppers become 100% EMU operated.

Intended gauge clearance does include Exeter and Taunton, amongst many other routes.

They are cleared to run as far as Plymouth!

Perhaps they are for passing out drivers. Have seen on Facebook.

166205's run was for route clearance according to a note on Intergrale yesterday but this diagram will also be used to pass out West Drivers on the Turbos.

Specifically gauge verification. Until yesterday they were only cleared on paper for the route. Yesterday's run validated the route clearance.

There have been other such trips apart from yesterday so points to driver training/passing out.

It seems difficult to keep track of the permanent moves of the Turbos from RG to PM, but according to ABRail these are the ones which have transferred. ABRail may not be entirely up to date, though:-

166204
166205
166208
166212
166214
166216

All should be RHM

Add to that 166210 which is at SPM for C4/RHM

166204 & 166212 are currently at Reading.

I'll check when next at work but all the Turbos are still allocated to Reading Depot. The only units that have disappeared off our fleet list are the two 150/0.

With all those Turbos migrating west any news on the 150's made surplus moving north?
Thanks
K

They are anything but surplus! The DMU fleet is struggling at the moment, and the Turbo plan has been altered such that there is a need to retain them for the time being. Equally, there is also a need for them to go north. Supposedly Daft are working out a 'plan' for whoever loses out!

It’s outrageous how the Severn Beach is full of 3 Car 166s with declassified first class when there are first class-less 2 Car 165s on Cotswold and Oxford services absolutely heaving!

What two-car Turbos on Cotswold services? The only booked two-car Turbo duty on the Cotswold Line is the weekday morning halts train from Worcester to Didcot, which can get a bit busy on the last leg of the journey into Oxford but is normally a very long way from being 'heaving' unless the preceding HST service has been cancelled. Otherwise, two-car units only appear past Oxford when things have gone very badly wrong.

There are a few two-cars on Oxford semi-fasts, but not in the peaks, unless something has broken down. And with 387s working as far as Maidenhead these days, capacity issues at stations along the Thames Valley are nothing like they were just a few months ago.

And there are plenty of peak services around Bristol worked by two-car dmus that are absolutely heaving and in urgent need of relief.

When was the last time you took a trip on the Severn Beach line?

Peak hour Severn Beach/Avonmouth services are normally full and standing when formed of 3 coaches and when a 2 car substitutes it gets absolutely jammed. Why is this a bad use of resources?

ps I have seen people being left at TM when a 2 car 150 has been subbed in.

Talk about selective editing... maybe you could try a picture of today's complete service on the branch from realtime trains - which would show that apart from mid-morning, everything else ran to time, or pretty close - including both peaks.

It was more the reason that I found amusing! The Severn Beach branch must've received the best punctuality of all lines to/through Bristol today in that case!

2 Turbo Diagrams start next week as already mentioned on the Weston-super-Mare to Bristol Parkway diagrams. As they are intermixed with other routes first thing, there are some swapping round of trains at Bristol TM and Taunton to accomodate. As a preview, though, there is one out today on the shuttles

Afraid it didn't complete it's day. Whilst working 2Y22 1522 Bristol TM to Weston-super-Mare failed at Parson St.

Are you able to post the diagrams?
