The train is indeed 377123 working 1H58. The brakes have overheated, and now will not release at all. The train also has collapsed components in the axle box. The train was declared a failure and may not be moved until the early hours of tomorrow (Sunday).

Fortunately the service was able to be evacuated directly onto the platform at Shoreham-by-Sea and there were only around 40 people onboard. It also looks like the fire brigade might not have needed to do much, too.

The Up line is open at 5mph but the Down is obviously blocked, so coastal services are severely disrupted.

I read '377' and 'fire' in the post title and immediately had flashbacks of the 377 BBQ at Eastbourne last year!

Glad to hear it's nowhere near as bad!

Perhaps not in terms of the fire, but in posts above it does sound like a mess from a repair point-of-view!

Apparently it's now fixed and won't affect services tomorrow.

It was a bearing failure resulting in the Axle box exploding and the chevron combusting as a result...

Yep. But the way Mitrac (TMS) displays the error messages can be less than ideal.

It's almost as if Bombardier don't want drivers stopping their disruptive trains when faults appear
