I guess 86101 will take the up highland back tomorrow then?

High likelihood of that, yes. I cannot see any reason why it won't be stabled in Waverley as per usual tomorrow then work 1M16 back.

Only other option would be to send it back with the Edinburgh portion ECS in the morning to Polmadie then switch to 1M11 tomorrow night, but can't see any particular rationale to do that.

Good to know, as I'll be on it. :D

So fingers crossed.

I was actually looking forward to 90047 as I am down to my last handful of 90s, but an 86 would trump them all.

92023 on the down lowland tonight actually. 032 at buffer end.

Nice one! You've escaped the very tatty 90047 and most probably landed an 86 :D:D

Got to love the green door. Amazing how long the Freightliner 90s have gone without a repaint. The BR double arrow is clearly visible on the other side too.

Funny thing, I have only got two photos of 90047 and both are at the P1 blocks at Euston on the sleepers, but on different dates.

Aye, 92032 took over from 86101 on the Lowlander ECS. Looks like 032 is now heading around from P1 to the engine siding to recover 90047 back to Willesden.

What a state! If I'd paid all that money for a night on the Sleeper, I'd at least want a loco with a door that matched :roll::lol::roll:

90044 it replaced today isn't much better... https://flic.kr/p/WkksAm (Photo courtesy 'VillaDeano')

90041 - yes, it's the only "green" stored one, although maybe it's just the slowest repaint job in history?

I think of the 9 operational ones F/L have (016, 042-049) they're all used pretty regularly on F/Ls own intermodal flows and also the Sleeper. The two on-hire to GBRf rotate pretty regularly - other than 90048, all have had stints of varying lengths over the past c.4 months (as an example timeframe). 046 was shortest lived as failed on its first outing but all the others have done reasonable spells - and a mixture of 'new' Freightliner (042/043/045/049), old green Freightliner (016/046) and the 'tatty' grey ones (044/047).

Think it's much more to do with operational requirements (e.g. 044 was only on the Sleepers a week and went back today as I believe it needs an exam) than the livery.
I'm guessing GBRf just take what they're given (and send them back pronto if they fail!).

I think I misread your earlier post about 032. Sorry.

What's happened to 90041?

No worries - now 032 on the Sleeper would have been a collector's item! Not done a full run in a long time. Not sure it's entirely "trusted"...
Only came up from Dollands Moor this afternoon (for maintenance/exam I believe) having done a fair few shifts through the tunnel on hire to DB over the past couple of weeks, so wasn't expected to be pressed into action tonight.

It's now back at Willesden having collected stricken 90047 by the looks of it.

What's happened to 90041?

As FarNorth37 says, it's stored at Leeds Midland Road currently - has been since June 2016. It's sat in the road against the fence with the 6x stored 70s and couple of stored 66s that are there too.

On its way 46L - suspect it'll have made that up well before Waverley (assuming no other issues befall it) - probably by Crewe...
Been over a month since the last Euston loco hokey-cokey on 1S25, been fairly uneventful (traction-wise at least) last few weeks.

92032 reported as the sub Lowlander ECS loco (5S96).

Looks like it struggled a bit to start with, but it's only showing 18L now. Not bad for a 50 year-old loco.

dont think it struggled at all was 46 late due to the failure of the original loco seems to be performing well if it only 18 down now then maybe getting up to over 60 mins may have been pathing issues at the southern end of the wcml

It dropped back steadily after leaving Euston and 'peaked' at 68 Late around MK Central. Maybe pathing issues, although seemed to be on the Fasts.

It didn't seem to be struggling for pace after that, though, recovering to 18L at Preston as GusB says.

The hard work's getting undone, though, as it's now sat at Preston for 24 minutes now. The signalling diagram says "DRVR" next to it, so wondering if there's some delay with the relief driver? Would it be possible the one who was booked isn't signed for 86s?

yeah just seen it was on the fasts maybe struggled to get up camden and get going as GusB said.
still at preston 42 down now seems like it maybe a driver issue as you say surely though all sleeper drivers would sign 86s to cover issues like this when they happen but then again keeping them refreshed would not be an easy task

not wanting to speculate but maybe the euston driver only signs as far as preston and maybe they waiting for an edinburgh driver on the southbound to take train forward.
or possibly freightliner arranging a class 90 to come from crewe possibly would seem sensible providing they had one spare
on the move 44L now

Seemed ok passing Camden Jnc - maybe just hit traffic.

Who knows with the drivers - could be any number of reasons for the extra delay.

That said, they'll pretty much all have to keep refreshed on 92s, 90s and 66s as it is and for the NW-based drivers I doubt they'd get a lot of opportunity with thx 86s.

I expect some/most are and some aren't and it's another thing to have to contend with on a night like tonight.

Pretty sure Preston is the usual driver change point for 1S25.

Obviously moving now, but it'd be a 3 hour wait for the southbound, and swapping/adding locos mid-route would be very unlikely as it's a logistical nightmare (who'd drive the 90 from Crewe? Is there one ready to go? etc) and would incur hefty delays. Would only happen in extreme circumstances.r

The 86 will not be on 1M16 tonight. It will take 5B26 to Polmadie in the morning and the loco that brings in 1B26 (I don't know what it is) will lie off in Waverley for 1M16 tonight. Reason being is that the booked driver for 1M16 tonight does not sign 86s.

Driving from Preston doesn't sign 86s, had to source another one from another service.

I believe the 1B26 loco is 92010.

Will that mean 86101 does 1M11 then? Or needs to wait until a driver is available?
