Has anyone not heard back from the online assessment, I did it on Saturday.

I did my SJT on 19th and still not heard back, I have already passed all the assessments except Visual Search Test, (only Arriva and MTR does this 'VST' test) & MMI with London Overground back in 2016. So I only need to do the MMI.

Although she said I passed all 6 questions perfectly. I failed because I have a minor stammer.

So I'm slightly(read immensely) annoyed. Would have rather failed a question.

*edit* Does anyone know if that counts as one of my two strikes? As I failed their communication criteria, rather than the interview questions.

They failed you because of a stammer!? :mad: hock: That can't be right can it? I'm not too sure myself if it counts as one of the two strikes but i really wouldn't think you'd fail because of that! Have you had any more feedback?

That was her feedback. I passed the questions with flying colours. But because of my speech, failed their communication criteria.

Sorry to hear that dude, but that's harsh! A mild stammer, I mean really? You passed questions so a pass should be a pass, I didn't think they mark you on how you communicated the answers to them.

Tell me about it. Being honest, my speech wasn't even that bad during the interview. I was speaking a bit slower, but that's what I do to control the stammer.

So that's a warning to people on here. You're marked on your communication as well as whether or not you pass the questions.

That's what she said. I failed to meet their communication criteria, because of my speech.

Apparently It wasn't her decision. As I passed the questions, she asked the HR person in charge of driver recruitment, who said no.

Thanks. It's annoying to have to wait 6 months, when I didn't technically fail.

But I did make a word document with all my responses. So will keep it safe.

I did email the HR person. Apparently I would need to resit the MMI regardless of where I reapplied.

I failed yesterday on the dfft , trying to get clarification on where this leaves me with rearding the 6 month and 2 strikes rules as dfft is not national standard test.

I passed stage 1 today, I personally thought I had done below average in terms of the amount of questions I answered but I must have done ok because I passed. There were 10 people at the assessment today including me (2 internal 8 external), 3 people got sent home early.

Back to Stratford on Tuesday for stage 2, slightly worried about the ATAVT, I've done loads of practice but does anyone khow roughly how many people fail this section?

Firstly well done to everybody who's been successful so far, and as frustrating it is, keep persivering to all those who've had set backs.

My question is.....those of you that have heard and had assessment days, is it a mixed bag of stations or are they working through applicants in station groups.

Im 30 and would love to be a train driver but most of these applications and jobs you need experience

No you don't if you keep at it and have the ability and attitude you'll get in, believe in yourself. What's your local TOCs, they might be advertising for trainee driver.

There are hardly any trainee dirver jobs, only train drivers with experience.
I live in Barking so East ham is only down the road to me

Nationwide. If you really want it you need to be open to the idea of relocating to do it. Freight operators tend to rarely take trainee drivers, passenger operators do it fairly often.

That said at the moment Greater Anglia (for you, Liverpool Street and Ilford) is probably the best shot as they have to recruit a lot of drivers to cover normal turnover and the demands of the new franchise.

Thats a good bit of advice. Train driver jobs are sought after, its fairly common for them to close early if they get enough applicants. If you see one apply, don't leave it.

Has anyone else heard anything yet?

I completed my SJT on 18th January but have yet to hear anything. I'm slightly surprised considering the speed it seemed to be progressing at originally.

Another couple of questions someone may know the answer to:

Someone mentioned there being about 2000 applicants, would anyone know what kind of percentage managed to progress to SJT and how many would be expected to get to assessment day?

Also, does anyone know how many jobs are actually available across the whole franchise?

Hi MrPIC i have some doubts on what they look for in the "scenario attitude" online test, where you to assign from 1 to 4 according to what you think is most important ,as i failed a couple of times,i've always ansewered giving priority to safety first,then customer service then company,but it's probably wrong,it is frustrating i never get it right.
Could you please tell me you opinion about it and if you could give some advice it would be appreciated.
