We all love cake, so I have opened a thread for you to list your top 10 favourite cakes> here are mine:

(Also I don't want the thread to become a tit-for-tat argument about what is and what is'nt a cake)

Iced madeira filled with jam and buttercream (classic birthday cake)
Double chocolate fudgecake
Chorley cake
Charlotte
Banoffee Gateaux
Toffee apple sponge
Cheescake (I know, but has 'cake' in it right? )
Baked alaska
Jaffa cake

I dont have a top ten but I do like the following:

Strawberry Cheesecake.
Banoffee pie
Pecon Pie
Chocolate cake with a nice springy sponge in the middle.

I'm not a massive fan of cake, but I am partial to the occasional slice of Jamaica Ginger Cake.

I love all cakes with sole exception of carrot cake. A particular favourite is Polish Air Force cake (Battenberg) and there's one I haven't seen for years, perhaps someone can help, it's what I called cauliflower cake. I don't know if there's a proper name but it's made from green marzipan leaves wih a white creamy stuff inside. Does anyone recognise that description?
