At Stratford it is about 560 yards (1/3 mile) from the eastern extremity of platform 10A to the western extremity of platform 4.

Similarly if you're finding your way from the concourse to the leading coach of 5 or 10 car voyager in platform 18, which is almost at the foot of Camden Bank.

Another one in the North Wales Coast is Abergele and Pensarn. Since the railway bridge was demolished back in the day, you go up the ramp from the down platform, through what was the station yard, on to the road, over the road bridge, and on to the road leading down to the beach to access the up platform.

Fourtunately, again, it is not a regularly-used connection, unless you fall asleep and miss Rhyl or Colwyn Bay!

As a supervisor at Euston 30 plus years ago I spent most my shift walking around the station. Checking the north end of a train at platform 15 and then being called over to platform 1 was a walk - of corse using the basement was a good shortcut, avoiding the trudge up the ramps

London Victoria Platform 1 to Platform 19 is awkward.

Cheating a little, Waterloo mainline to Waterloo East platforms.

Bank LU has some pretty long walks if you're making the wrong journey.
Waterloo-Waterloo East?
York, if you're using Platform 4.

I suspect Clapham Junction has the longest walk between platforms that are used to serve the same destinations. Miss your train to Shepherds Bush from 1 and you might have to go to 17 to catch the next one (just not at the moment...:( )

It's not as long, but walking from Platform 1 to 3 at Canning Town when the computer changes its mind about where the next Woolwich Arsenal is coming from (Stratford high level or Stratford International) must rival it in terms of awkwardness. From the high level platforms, go down two levels on escalators, take a walk, and go back up again to the old NLL platforms.

Waverley P1 to just about anywhere else is a long hike. I've posted this before, but I know of an elderly couple who missed *two* Borders trains in succession because they had to shuffle from P1 to P3 in the intervening half hour. To be fair, there was also some confusion in the mix, but most of it was slow walking. :(

If I ever get on a six coach Glasgow shuttle on P7 (it happens more than you'd think) I swear that I've walked half way to Dunbar to get to the rear unit.

Minimum connectional time for the station is 10 minutes

Shotts - at present while the Station Rd overbridge is being replaced.

The route between platform 1 and 2 currently involves a temporary footpath leading on to a residential street, a hike up Station Road, a diversion across the temporary bridge for pedestrians and services and a circuitous route by the Station Hotel round the closed off part of Station Road and back to the entrance to the platform 2 ramp.

Although the platforms are physically continuous, it's a fairly long walk at both Gloucester (P1 & P2) and Salisbury (P4 & P6), especially if the trains are at the opposite ends of both platforms.

Euston has trains to Crewe sometimes on platform 1, sometimes on platform 18 (indeed the last train to Crewe was the 11.10 from platform 18, the next one is the 11.40 currently due from platform 1), about 300m.

I reckon Clapham 17-to-1 via the subway is about 200m

Just this Monday (2/1/2016) i was waiting for the 21:16 Clapham Junction to Willesden Junction 21:35 London Overground service and it had a last minute platform alteration from Platform 1 to Platform 17 which was certainly a long walk!

One of the worst experiences I've had there was going from Shepherd's Bush to Clapham High St, when the Overground service preceding mine broke down on its usual platform, so the one I was on got diverted to 17. A packed 5-car 378 disgorging hundreds of people onto one incredibly narrow platform with two very small exits - it took over 10 minutes to get off the platform, let alone cross the bridge to the other end of the station to get the other Overground service!

If you regarded Kings Cross and Kings Cross Midland / Thameslink as the same station I think that would be the winner

Ravenglass' platforms are a bit apart, as are the ones at Sturry.

WINNER: Inverness platform 7. You have to walk across a car park...

Half a mile between Seven Sisters Victoria line and London Overground platforms when the direct escalators close this month for the first part of 2017 at least

There's a walk of about 2 or 3 minutes between Atherstone's platforms, use to be a footbridge but this was dismantled a few years ago as it was unsafe.

Cardiff Central Platform 0. Necessary to go out through gateline and past Marks and Spencers.

It's a fair distance from the NR platforms at Shepley to the narrow-gauge one (technically in Shelley rather than Shepley), not that it's a journey many would undertake for business rather than pleasure!

How far is it from platform 1 to the rest of Holyhead station?

For a simple station with platforms either side of a double track, Burnley Manchester Road takes some beating.

Huddersfield P2 to P6 is a pain, or vice-versa. Especially if it clashes with a TPE on P8 as it often does.

Back of a 12-car at the far south end of Platform 1 at Cambridge to a connecting Norwich/Ipswich service in Platform 5/6. Or, if you're really unlucky, over the bridge to Platforms 7 and 8.

Or if London Midland did a unit swap at Northampton - far north end of Platform 2/3 to Platforms 4/5.

That reminds me when I worked in Shepherds Bush 30 years back and sometimes went via Clapham Junction and Olympia on the Kennybell service. We'd be waiting on platform 2 at Clapham Junction, and there would be an announcement that it would be going from platform 16. Even worse would be when it was cancelled, and I'd have to get the 295 bus, which took about four times as long to do much the same journey. It was not the most reliable service.

There are quite a few new(ish) stations that opened without any provision to get from one platform to the other, instead relying on local roads and footpaths. Not that normals would do such a thing of course, arriving and then going back in the direction they've just come from, so it doesn't matter to them. Access to either platform is perfectly reasonable providing you know which platform it is that you want. I seem to remember that Fitzwilliam is like this.
Shipley may have a triangular layout, but it's quite a compact station, you can leap from any platform to any other in a couple of minutes - done it many times. Leeds is the worst I think (as mentioned by 61653). Arriving on a train on P1 when there's already something in there, you've got a long walk for a Nottingham/Knottingley/Sheffield/wherever service if it's going from the bay on the south side (17 is it?)
