Unless there are some that have recently come over from GTR that knowledge will have been long expired.

What's it called? It's called Cumbernauld
I had interpreted it as traction clearance in my response in the previous post.

I am aware that it is unlikely a lot of the SWT drivers would still have Class 442s as it has been a good while since they ran in regular service along L&SWR metals.

Assuming there are drivers going that way that still have 442s on their cards

I had interpreted it as traction clearance in my response in the previous post.

It was a question about whether the units themselves are cleared, with so many renewels having been done in different places.

I'd be surprised if there was even a single driver at SWTs who signs 442s. There can't be too many at Southern who sign 442s either

.Traction signing elapses after a year of non-use anyway. Even so, the traction would have been signed off when taken off lease so no one will have current competence. No doubt there will be a significant number who have experience working the trains and therefore re-signing them will be relatively straightforward. Even so they will have to do the whole traction course again albeit more briefly than someone who has never signed them.

In the good old days there was a train from Waterloo formed of 8VEP+class33+4TC which split at Basingstoke with the 8VEP continuing towards Southampton and the 33+4TC running to Salisbury, if my memory serves me correctly.

Is that the one that had the Crompton sandwiched between the two units? I'm sure I once saw something of that nature many years ago.

Are the units at three bridges sidings off lease or the two spares?

All were off lease since the initial batch was stored temporarily. However Don't believe there is any left as the final 10 car went today.

5O86 booked 3 bridges to Eastleigh today, although it still hasn't left yet. Could be a unit playing up again?

Add: Finally got going around an hour late. 37884 + 2417.

2417 was the first 442 that was refurbished for Southern in 2008. And 8 years later it heads back to Eastleigh.......

To have its shoegear off then turned round up to Ely no doubt!

I do hope they don't bin off 2401 at least, that holds the 3rd rail speed record and still does. They should keep one end for the NRM.

I'd like to see some return to the 3rd rail, I went on the Poole ROG tour and to me the ride was still as smooth and quiet as it was 28 years ago.

I am given to understand that the last six will come off least by the end of January...

I thought that was January 2018! Was there a change of plans, and if so, does this have to do with the reduction in the number of 377s going to Southeastern?

Well... I thought it was another year as well, so I would assume a change of plans has happened. Surely not a great surprise, though, as we now have an inflexible micro-fleet amongst an otherwise unified fleet?

Does this mean the two pairs of units kept for the Eastbourne run could go sooner than expected too?

Date was never January 2018 IIRC.

Who said there is a reduction in the 377s going to Southeastern? Or do people actually expect SE to swap 6x TL 377 for 32x SN 377 in a single weekend? Its a cascade that got steps not all at once folks. Especially as the SN 377 are released by the arrival of 700 on current Southern services (Horsham, Littlehampton, East Grinstead) during 2017.

Is that it now then bar the six? Or are there any more to go? I've got footage of all the moves I'm gonna put together once done, tho I fear I may have missed a couple.
--- old post above --- --- new post below ---
Unknown unit sat outside SL as I passed, anyone know which one it is / what it's next move is, ie storage?

37884 booked 0O86 Wembley ny to Eastleigh this afternoon, so I assume that'll be to take 2417 to Ely.
