Following on from the 'Best loco engine sound' thread, what are you opinions on the best sounds of the DC/AC electrics? Personally, I like the hum of a 91...

If you mean the ES64U2 variant, I find the "musical traction motors a bit annoying. U4s sound cooler.

As far as the UK goes, probably the Class 90. Also a fan of the DB 112/114/143 with their distinctive fan roar and the SBB Re 4/4 II with all the clunking and wailing you could wish for!

I went for class 85s although it's many years since I heard one. Those 81s and 85s had loads of character.

Class 91s and 92s for me along with the Class 373 power cars (I don't class them as EMUs as they are a TGV set and the power cars have the motors in them) but that Taurus sounds very different to other electric locos and EMUs even the 323s sound nothing like them

I haven't been about for long enough to know 81-85, but of modern, it's got to be the transformer scream of the 87s
