I've been meaning to do this for a while, thenorthern started a thread about rolling stock of which there were no examples preserved.
This is about single locomotives that did somehow survive, some of them remarkably (like the class 17 or 28 for example) considering how long it had been since the rest of them were scrapped.
I've not put multiple units, narrow gauge stuff, industrials or coaching stock on here because. Well, just because. :)

So for diesels I've got one each of classes 15, 17, 28 and Deltic.

For electric I've got classes 71, 81?, 82, 83, 84, 85?, 89.

The gas turbine 18000

Steam, lots probably but I'll start with A2, A3, V2, King Arthur (777), Lord Nelson (850), City of Truro, The Dukedog and Duke of Gloucester.

That's a start, makes you realise how lucky we are really.

How about the LSWR T9 30120, and I wonder if anything does still remain in Russia of HS4000 Kestrel?

Maybe they incorporated Kestrel into a spaceship? Perhaps just the power handle :)?
Got another, the 15xx tank, I think there's only one of them.

15xx seems a good call, and what about the Stanier Class 5 2-6-0 Moguls, just the one survivor there?

There is definitely more than 1 Deltic in preservation. I believe there are 4.

I meant the original powder blue Deltic, it's quite different from the production series of which I think 6 were preserved.
I thought of a couple more things.
The original HST power car, the remaining bits of the APT P and is the APT E (gas turbine preserved)?

there are a number of class 55 deltics in preservation , but the prototype is a one off and is preserved ( the light blue one with the speed whiskers and the pace for a US style headlight)...

i see that 41001 the prototype HST power car has been mentioned in terms of a similar scenario - while the 43s are in revenue earning service 41001 had been in a fairly precarious position until project miller and it's other end of the rake compadre met the torch...

Another one for the list, Bulleid Q1 33001

Forgot about that one. There's also the Maunsall Q class 541

LNWR Super D and Coal tank. Plus the Taff Vale tank

There really is a lot of one off steam locos. Struggling to think of any more non steam that hasn't been mentioned.

There are a number of Class 252 vehicles surviving so DMB 41001 (aka 43000) doesn't count.

Now you've mentioned Maunsell what about the sole surviving N Class (3)1874? I think your right about non-steam, surely can't be many more, or can there?
