Myself I hate the god awful light green headrests, I would have much preferred a light brown colour, as for the carpet, well its ok but something a bit more like GWR and not XC coloured green would have been nice! The new PA on the 158's looks horrible, why not keep is standard like the 150's or ATW 158s?

Couldn't agree with you on Brown - GWR have started to use a dark brown colour on the interior trim and interior paint and it's a frankly awful colour. As odd as this may sound, around a few of my local towns we have a fair few rather dreary looking 1980s Dark Brown Office Blocks - GWRs interiors, with the plenty use of Grey, Grey, Grey, Brown and Green is starting to remind me of these, it's an almost 1980s interior - which makes the 1990s built Turbos seem even more odd, possibly why it doesn't fit as well.

As I asked before, do the interior doors have to contrast with the rest of the interior - as per FGWs previously livery et all?

Well I would imagine GWR would have checked this before repainting the interior, as per the possible IC125 MK3 rake which didn't happen. I've actually used paint.net to see what a brown headrest would look like and actually its ok.

The new 158 seats are firm and comfortable, and very supportive. As much as I miss the soft squidgy old 158 seats, these will be infinitely better for an hour's poke to Bath or beyond.

At a guess I'd say Derby RVEL for an overhaul and repainting into GWR Green (as 43005 and 43041 have been). Could be wrong though.

RVEL haven't overhauled any of the GWR power cars, just painted them.

Its a picture of the lower panels paints brown which he is moaning about. Now can we get back to what was being typed about seats before it was rudely cut off!:D

As I was on about this is how I feel GWR should have gone about the Standard class seats. Feels a lot more like the GWR, maybe if the actual logo was stitched in like in First Class it would show better!

Does anyone know what the deal is with 43040? It was receiving attention at Laira, forgive me if this has been answered already (I don't think it has) but has it been confirmed that it's being repainted into Intercity Swallow?

Oh dear, thanks for clearing that up. Do you know if any other 43s are due to be repainted into IC swallow?

I would hazard a guess that it's unlikely seeing as the current one was painted for the anniversary.

A bit trivial but we have now run out of Firstgroup branded Night Riviera antimacassars ! After this weekend, one set will carry current HST standard class style and won't be long before other set is done too. Of course, new style seats will be appearing soon.....so we've been told...... !

It is all in one of the magazines in Smiths.

150/2 modification work shall switch to green 'soon'
166/165 modification work shall switch to green 'soon'
AT300-800 shall be delivered in green
IEP 800/801 are under negotiation with the Dft to deliver them green, if not, they shall be vinalled.
378/1 shall be painted green prior to service entry
378/1 extra shall be delivered green after the 378/2 batch is complete for Gatwick
365/5 shall be painted green prior to service entry
158 modification work shall start 'soon' and likely after the 150/2, delivered in green
The night riviera shall be painted green 'soon'
Interestingly, if the business case supports it, the HSTs shall be vinal green

UPDATE:
IEPs no 800001 and 8000002 must be revinled if they are to go to FGW.I cannot remember if those are mockups or not.Hmm. I am retty sure you can correct me on that

Ah, that is a shame. Did so want to see one in IC, but c'est la vie.

I bet you when they are preserved at least one will be reliveried into IC. Temporarily, though.

Most likely, I hope it happens. I'd also like to see a full rake of intercity stock, in theory this can be done once the stock is out of service because the regs won't apply.

Welcome to the forum, btw.

Back to Great Western liveries:

166220 is due back from C6 at Wolverton this Saturday and the first of the 165s (165101) will take its place.

Talking of 165s, the accident damaged car of 165124 was supposed to move to Derby today, by road, for repair. Don't know if it's actually gone though!

There's nothing in the regs that stops it now.

Are the 165s getting air con fitted or is this later?

Well GWR said they didn't want to/ couldn't repaint a full HST set into BR livery because the livery doesn't have passenger doors in a contrasting colour...

Nothing to stop a privately owned set returning into full-blown IC livery for charter purposes...
