This incredibly busy evening service from Leeds has this evening been cancelled, no reason was given. A heads up to anyone going for the 1815 about how horrific it may be.

I also witnessed an interesting confrontation on the platform as 30 or so people ran to catch the 1715. It seemed that they were people who'd arrived in time for the cancelled train and dashed over to platform 6 to try to avoid the 60 minute wait and 30 minute delay to their journey. We all missed it, departing as it did on time. This seems like an exceptionally poor management decision for people travelling to London for it not to wait even for 5 minutes. Of course, it's not an easy decision for the controllers or management to make but this is a good time I think to point out why these people are so often out of touch with the passenger. The platform staff reacted very badly to the people who'd missed their train telling them 'that's how it is' they missed the train and the next one is at 1815. It's not surprising that so many station staff get stick when they have such a lack of empathy, but what can be done in future to try to resolve a fundamental conflict, if indeed that's what this is?

Probably something to do with the fact that the wires are down at Hambleton.

Possibly. I hadn't noticed because NRE doesn't have a disruption alert on Leeds and this information wasn't given at the station.

National Rail website were stating it was a broken down train that was the cause. Is this the same train or a seperate issue?

That's funny because the only thing I could find on NRE was about a broken down train at York.

I have finally found this and the correct NRE page about the disruption. It's so difficult to get the right one on mobile. I'm at York it's rather chaotic. I wasn't even supposed to be, the 1745 from Leeds was cancelled although it wasn't at all apparent why!

Hopefully it should have more or less cleared up by then.

I wouldn't count on it KGX appears to be up the creek at the moment. Actually looking at the dearth of arrivals from the North I wonder if they're starting to struggle for trains?

Noticed that on the way home this evening. Ouch.

Does anyone know which way the limited shuttle service between York and Doncaster's going ?

Did not have a look at RTT. Im agree with you maybe they are starting to run out of trains. Which really would not surprise me as there fleet is pretty stretched as it is!!

A difficult few days on the ECML. Last Friday I travelled from Kings Cross to York and many services around 12.30 were delayed for around 45 minutes because of a "broken-down train" which was reported to have been at Doncaster. Today I arrived back at KX at about 12.45 and heard an announcement about a VTEC service being cancelled - I didn't listen for the details but probably the subject of this thread.

There was an EMT Meridian at York on Saturday morning about 1030 - I wonder if that was connected with last week's problems.

Just got here l, up in the board as running but with 2 additional stops presumably for passengers from the cancelled 19:30. Only one East Coast train in the station at the moment which I presume is the late running 19:03 to Leeds.

The Meridian is a Saturdays Only St Pancras to York train.

It would of been unconnected, EMT run a service to York on a Saturday, it sits there from 10 till 5 before working back.

A bit of info on the Meridian. They run into York more of less every Saturday and Sunday. More info of that is on the frequently requested diagram list. http://www.railforums.co.uk/showpost.php?p=1478551&postcount=6

The 17:15 left Leeds full and standing, and failing to leave on time could have resulted in loss of path and delays to all manner of other services. As it is the 17:15 is running around 25 minutes late, and the views of the 500 people on the train at the departure time are as important, if not more so, than the 30 or so you refer to.

I'm on the 19:03 from KGX to Leeds. Left a bit late and it's very cosy on here :)

I hope that Peterborough passengers were getting directed to FCC services and the EC service being made to be "pick up only" at Peterborough.

Nope - 19:03 also making an additional stop at Stevenage

Saw this leave, loads in vestibules. No announcements but believe we're making additional calls at Peterborough, Newark and Doncaster so looking at probably 10 minutes added on. Seen two VTEC trains between 19:00 and 20:00 and only this one in the station since 19:20. Might be passing quite a few going south

19:33 to Leeds still shown as "delayed" on NRE. At KGX it had been shown as departing at 20:08. Guess where Mrs O is, trying to get home to Leeds.

And she's off! A train left at 20:40, and is said to be "flying along". Full to bursting, but she even got a seat.

Probably via Knottingley if there are any HSTs or Class 67s to drag the 91s around.

Grand Central have been running this way.
