We've just missed the last tram to MediaCityUK (it left at 00:40), so we are forced to call it a night due to the lack of night buses in this area of Manchester. In the morning we board the 09:51 First TransPennine Express service to Windermere as far as Oxenholme Lake District, alighting from that train at 11:18 on Monday.

Deansgate station is 0.8 miles away from St Mary's Gate.

Are you referring to the St Mary's Gate near Harvey Nicholls?

That is exactly the position where the number 100 bus stopped at in the posting that preceded the one from Deansgate station.

Incidentally, it seemed an awfully long time to wait on Deansgate station before boarding a train there at 0951 on a Monday morning, after arriving in Manchester at 0041. I know that Deansgate has many services running from prior to that time on a Monday morning.

Since we have no specific people acting as adjudicators in this quiz, relying instead on community agreement, I'll suggest that we dis-allow the Deansgate-Oxenholme move at post #6053 for two reasons:-

1) Deansgate railway station is well beyond the 0.5 mile walking limit.
2) The 0951 TPE departure is around 5 hours after resumption of public transport service in Manchester on Monday morning. Our normal rule is "move within 2 hours".

If others agree, I propose we continue from the Deansgate / St. Mary's Gate bus stop near Manchester Cathedral, where we arrived at 0041 early Monday morning.

(Hint: Piccadilly Gardens is just within ½ mile of the last alighting point, and several all-night bus routes are available)

I'm in agreement with this.

We take a short walk down to East Didsbury Parrs Wood and board the 03:18 Magic Bus service to Manchester Piccadilly Gardens, arriving there at 03:39 in the early hours of Monday morning.

EDIT: That bus runs during University term time only, so we walk to Parrs Wood Lane/Tesco and board the 03:23 Stagecoach in Manchester service to Piccadilly Gardens (Stop G), arriving at 03:44 on Monday morning.

Trainfan344 posted at 1106 and you at 1110 as displayed on my PC - so the move to Moffat is not valid

Or have you walked from the cemetery to the High Street?

Mind you I sometimes get the impression (wrong I hope) that this site occasionally plays tricks with posting times

I would have walked, but it's much too far a distance than that allowed, despite the fact that there was ample connection time.

I'm glad you were all able to come to a decision regarding the hiccup yesterday, whilst I did receive a PM alerting me to the matter, I was away from home from early to late, and similarly today and have had limited time to get online... despite being near a city centre, being there with 40+ thousand people does tend to put a lot of stress on mobile networks!
