That's because the sub-surface routes (Met, District, H&C, Circle) are ruled out for the time being. I'm not sure why the Bakerloo is not included, at least as far as Queen's Park: onwards from there be dragons, in the shape of NR.

Because its falling apart

Perhaps an eventual renaming as Heathrow Central (like the HeX station), Heathrow South and Heathrow West?

I imagine it will be in time as terminal 1 is never going to be rebuilt.

Instead terminal 2 will be extended.

Oh eventually, probably, but not right after Terminal 1 closes.
Perhaps an eventual renaming as Heathrow Central (like the HeX station), Heathrow South and Heathrow West?

Maybe Terminal 2 will drop the number and become just "The Queen's Terminal"?

But, yes, the stations will probably be renamed eventually.

Surely it would still need a number though?
Why? They could just give the other terminals names too, if they really wanted to - just as Gatwick simply has 'north' and 'south' terminals.

They didn't used to before 1969. There were Europa and Oceanic Terminals, with these becoming 2 and 3 when 1 opened.

I think it'd just cause confusion having one terminal with a name and the others with numbers, thats what I meant. But yes you could remove all numbers to alleviate this problem

The common factor between the night tube lines are that they are operated under ATO (bar the Piccadilly) and so there is less chance of driver error at night (fatigue, light conditions, &c.), because the train is being driven by itself. The Piccadilly, whilst not ATO, is on the map primarily because it serves Heathrow. The SSL isn't on the map currently because it has got an impending upgrade to fit ATO equipment, which will result in weekend shutdowns and night time works, and so would require it to be removed from the map and then re-added later. Once it has gone ATO, it will likely go onto the map.

A good explanation - thank you.

How much of the reason for the Piccadilly operating is going to Heathrow, and how much is because it serves the West End? Certainly if you look at the publicity, some of it mentions shift workers but much of it is about leisure use. The Piccadilly service through the central section (i.e. Acton -> Arnos) on a Saturday afternoon and early evening is pretty much as good as the weekday am peak service, which really shows something about how well-used the line is for leisure traffic.

Just to reinforce that, the current WTT shows the following trains in service on the Piccadilly line:

Mon-Fri 09:00 - 78
Mon-Fri 18:00 - 77
Mon-Fri 21:00 - 70

Saturday 15:00 - 76
Saturday 18:00 - 76
Saturday 21:00 - 69

There is very little difference between traditional peak time and non-peak time service levels these days.

The most frequent night bus route, both before and after the night tube intro, is the N29 on the section between Charing Cross and Wood Green, so providing for this traffic must be seen as important as Heathrow shift workers.

After Heathow terminal 1 closes tonight, will heathrow terminal 1,2 & 3 station be renamed?

No doubt if the numbering is retained, in years to come a favourite trivia question will be "Why is there no terminal 1 at Heathrow"??

I thought it was pretty much sorted a while back, but I assume that any new mayor is going to make it look like s/he did it.

Yes, Sadiq has barely got his feet under the desk, the negotiations would have had little to do with him

Although maybe he had a good relationship with TfL? I heard his dad was a bus driver...

May be he does but that doesn't mean it's helped the talks unless something happened rather quickly of late.

Surely it wouldn't be agreed just because he's a Labour mayor.

It will be interesting to see his response to the latest RMT issue with maintenance workers

The RMT are not affiliated to Labour so that the fact that there is now a Labour mayor is neither here nor there.
