I notice on the Fleet List there are 8 new Volvo B11R coaches earmarked for Aberhill.

Again this seems to be a mistake and should be Arbroath for the X7, with the Current stock on the X7's going to the X58/X60.

Can anyone confirm this?

They're for Dundee/Arbroath - or whichever depots it is that do the Coastliner these days, I forget...

X8, although it's quite often a decker. Sunday 95 too. Oh and some of the X59's too, the Glenrothes ones.

The X8 seems rather out of place now with the 8 no longer Leven-Kirkcaldy.

The 8 are all for the X7. At the Aberdeen end, we have been promised two extra services per day when the timetable does change, but they would not reveal any more details of the changes at this time. Bluebird only do a timetabled two hourly duplicate X7 Monday to Friday between Stonehaven and Aberdeen.

16526 is back at Stonehaven and sometimes appears on the first X7 in the morning at least, but I am unsure how often. It is not on every day though.

Arbroath actually operate the peak time X7 duplicate, not Bluebird.

Bluebird do run a handful of additional timetabled journeys between Stonehaven and Aberdeen in the peak. Some are X7s, and some are X6s which continue to/from Stonehaven depot.

I don't think any of the existing B9 Elites are moving from the X7 to the X58/X60 in Fife.

They do a lot of them actually. It's called the Scottish Express, (ironic name!)

Starting points are Arbroath, Brechin, Forfar and Kirriemuir. They go to destinations such as Inverness, Callender and Glasgow Silverburn and Braehead.

Yeah they are shopping trips for folks that want to go on a wee jolly jaunt...

With the ryder cup taking place in the next few days at gleneagles. Nearly all of the active and withdrawn olys and E400s will be used for the P&R with the exception of 19894-9. So what will be used on the 57/9 and 73s when 10002-7 and 19641-56/662/668 gets used on the P&R in the next few days and will they all be in service tomorrow since some of them were still in service today.

They also be more E400s and some coaches from the rest of UK being used for the P&R with some already arrived for preparation.

Fife Council bosses are remaining tight lipped over plans to purchase the Stagecoach bus depot in Flemington Road in the new town.

The Gazette can reveal that the local authority is currently in early negotiations with the bus company for the possible acquisition of land which is currently used as a depot for Stagecoach’s Glenrothes public transport operation.

The move follows the company’s desire to expand its bus network across the central Fife area and is set to end its association with the depot it has occupied since March, 1985.

Michael O’Gorman, Fife Council’s estate service manager told the Gazette: “We are aware of Stagecoach’s desire to expand operations in Fife and have been discussing various options with them.

“However, these talks are at the very early stages and it would be inappropriate for us to share any potentially commercially-sensitive information at this point.”

A spokesman for Stagecoach in Fife added: “We are in discussions with Fife Council regarding the future of our current depot at Glenrothes to allow for future expansion of our network across Fife.

“No details have been confirmed at this time so we have no planned changes to the service 39B extension between Glenrothes bus station and our depot site.”

The Council already has an additional piece of land adjacent to the bus depot, formerly the print unit and stores, which relocated to Bankhead last year.

Mr O’Gorman added that it currently has no firm plans for that site.

But the possible amalgamation of land has fuelled speculation regarding the possible creation of readier access by vehicles to the Biomass plant situated close by.

A spokesman for the plant operators - RWE Innogy said it was unaware of any plans to develop new access routes at this time.

I think there is more spin than truth here. You have to wonder why the depot needs more room? It recently lost a dozen or so school contracts freeing up a lot of space.

when I was in Perth last Tuesday I saw one on the afternoon 614 and on what appeared to be the 1625 no 34 to Spittalfield which is advertised as a low floor vehicle. Is that usual?

Yeah it's usual, it happens at times with services 15 and 47 as well even though that's advertised as a low floor service as well. 614 is a school service which doubles up as a school run as well, so an Oly on that is a given...

But I get the impression that apart from morning schools, I may not see any Olympian activity until the late afternoon. Anyone know if the 1625 no 34 to Spitallfield is usually an Olympian? Do any other services ever drop an Olly? What about the 36? I remember seeing an Olly on that last year or is that finished now?

They still pop up on odd peak journeys that are worked before/after some of the school journeys, but their number is dwindling.
Glenrothes only have Gemini B7/B9 DDs now, so you won't see one on the 36.

The 614 at 15.25 is usually an Oly, and on the odd occasion during the afternoon, Oly's will go through to Crieff on service 15, where it changes into other services depending on what time it gets to Crieff.

Also you might get the odd Strathtay Oly on the 16, 57 and 58 as well...
