It wasn't valid, as Alton is not served by non-NR rail transport. But you still aren't allowed another guess until the next clue is given <D

Was just about to but then I got distracted.

Clue 1: This station is south of the route taken on a journey from Helensburgh Central to North Berwick, completed by changing at Dalmuir, Glasgow Central and Edinburgh Waverley and travelling via Carstairs.

Clue 3: All passenger services at this station either stop before continuing in the same direction, or start/terminate here.

Clue 4: Services departing from this station serve 3 different final destinations in one direction, and 1 in the other. They may not all be served all day every day.

Clue 5: This station's name is formed from the names of 2 other stations. A journey between said 2 stations would take you through this one.

Clue 1: This station is north of a journey from Penzance to Henley-On-Thames made by changing at Reading and Twyford via Newbury.

Using the Reading-Taunton line or travelling via Bristol?

I'll choose one that fits either way in the first instance - Stratford-upon-Avon.
