Keep it on topic chaps. If you wish to discuss the "best" 442 you may do it elsewhere

Explain your reasoning?

As Tom states, you havn't bashed all of them have you?

Point?. Ive seen all 24 of them at speed and bashed 2412 from Bournemouth to Waterloo via guilford!. It isnt if you bashed it or not. Its called 'Having your own opinion';).

Somthing some cant understand....

I'm not too fussed really, though I've always had a bit of a soft spot for 2416 and 2422.

Fred only likes 2412 because its the only one he's seen (bit too much of a coincidence it was the unit doing the tour).

I think I know what an opinion is thankyou.

Incase you havn't realised, expect your opinion to be challenged unless you have evidence to support it!

it would be nice if the 442s did Pompey-Waterloo services again [I must be dreaming....]
I remember doing the 1717 1xxx Portsmouth Harbour-London Waterloo on a 5WES back in 2002, it went via Effingham Jn instead of Woking

442s are alright in my opinion

I used to catch the 1630 or so Waterloo-Portsmouth Harbour (getting off at Havant) in 1996 I think it was, that used to go Fast to just past Hampton Court Junction, then DF>DS, then via Cobham to Guildford. Very nice little jaunt through stockbroker country! The Up train I used to catch that stopped at Farnborough Main ex-Southampton used to go US>US at any point from Farnborough onwards, and one time it ran DS all the way to the #-overs under the Hampton Court flyover! I miss the 442s and the buffet cars...but not the smoke from the punters that could only smoke in those cars.

Would be nice to see / hear 2405 again as she sounded a bit alrite.

Although This Set sounds ok as well. With thanks to James Mayl. Bearing in mind though I think This pair sound good as well.

It could well be that its the 3 white ones and possibly 1 ex SWT that are used. but that remains to be seen.

Still no matter what ones will be used hearing that familiar scream (or groan if its Doreen) going over Baiter or Holes bay last thing at night will be something to remember. Also getting them on video againwould be nice.

Cheers

To bring a few people back to reality, the louder and more screamy the unit is, the more chance of you being sat round on the mainline for an hour or two while the fitters sort out a bearing failures 8-)

RAIL today mentions that the ones going to the Gatport Airwick route are going to have new interiors. Nothing mentioned about any going back to whence they came from!

The interior job is supposed to be done at Eastleigh. The 4 us lot down here have only been mentioned over the last few weeks. But I dont like Rail anyway.... they are too political!!

That is 'baiter park', as baiter is opposite poole park;) i live 5 minites from there!!!!!!

liam

Do you now?. It isnt baiter its poole park + raceway + Skateboard place. Then theres a car park then a road up to the public causeway where you can see all the boats and brownsea island.

;) . I know the area quite well.

No dont take it personally. Im just used to knowing poole park where the big lake thing is then that skateboard and the small road. Then whitecliff comes up where the boats are all stabled where the line goes up to parkstone.

That was such a cracking day, that run up Parkstone Bank for the "Last Time" (note the inverted comma's) was outstanding.

It was a tad on the hellfire side, non stop through parkstone!!!

As for da arguemnt on poole park, Poole park is on the left as u head towards london, and whitecliff, skatepark, raceway are on the right as u head towards london up the bank
