[Techniquest]

Just an update on the whereabouts of heart-of-wessex.

Some of you will be aware that he has been offline for ages. This is primarily due to having no computer that works. I shall be co-ordinating efforts with heart-of-wessex at a later date to get it repaired.

More recently he has been offline for other reasons. Currently he is in Frenchay hospital, in north Bristol. I am sure I am not alone in wishing him well and a speedy recovery.

Just thought it would be appropriate to let you know.

Good news is that he is supposed to be going home soon, although the ETD from Frenchay is currently unknown.

However I'm sure he'll be glad to know that people care.

I am told it was an overdose on antihistimines. How accurate this is I don't know, this was information forwarded from his Mum.

Nevertheless, being in hospital for anything, however caused, is an unpleasant experience. I am hoping to speak with him later, having been too busy last night to make the call.

I did a couple of days ago. I do have a lot of other stuff I need to do as well, unfortunately the phone call I was due to make yesterday did not get done. It will today.

Get well soon jimbo, it's been ages since we last conversed, though I swear I saw him walking down station road in Yate last thursday! Could have been my imagination though..

No idea on that one. In our converse the other day he did recall seeing 43192 in the yard at Gloucester, en-route to Brush by the sounds of it. RIP 43192 'City of Truro', thee was truely great.

Called Frenchay today as he was evidentally not back home yet, with no answer on his mobile. It was eventually found that he has been transferred to another hospital. However I am clueless as to where, the staff member I spoke to had nothing to inform her of the new location. I have since contacted his Mum to see if she has any further information, a reply from which I am currently awaiting.

Either way it sounds like he's in a worse state than I believed him to be in, if he hasn't gone home yet.hock:

That is what it sounds like, but I don't know for sure yet. Hopefully I will know one day, but it's not something I'm going to push for an answer to for quite some time yet.

Hopefully it's just a case where they've moved him to a hospital to keep an eye on him which is closer to Trowbridge.

Hi all.

I've spoken to James tonight. He's now been relocated to another hospital, in Merthyr Tydfil of all places. Staff are keeping an eye on him for the duration, to ensure (by the sounds of things) no problems occur in the meantime that may happen again. I don't know that for sure, but he should be back in Trowbridge again by this time next week. Hoping to get a chance to visit him to see just how he is doing for myself this week, although this is unknown currently. Should be tomorrow.

If anyone lives in/near Merthyr, I'm sure he'd appreciate a visit from another enthusiast.

I will say from our conversation tonight that he sounded much more normal tonight than he did when I spoke to him late last week.

Oh, and Jamie you may have been right about his being in Yate. He said he was in Yate on Thursday, or at least that's what he remembered.

On the assumption I do make it to see him tomorrow, I shall ensure all well-wishings are passed on, with any news to be relayed. All being well, he'll be able to get back online by next week.

I did go to see James today. We eventually found the place, St. Tydfils General in Merthyr. Once you know where it is, it's easy to find but it was annoying to get to for the first time!

You'll be glad to know he is well. Had a good long conversation with him, a lot of which was updating him on gen from previous trips and current news on the rail scene. I am told it was an overdose of antihistimines, but the reason for this is unknown.

At this time he is awaiting a transfer back to somewhere closer to Trowbridge. Where this will be is unknown at current, depending on where beds become available. He is in for a few more weeks yet, something else which depends on developments.

Hoping to go and visit him again soon.
