I also believe if it is highlighted in Red that it means it doesn't always run as can be seen here

I go away for an 8-day relaxation holiday on the Isle of Wight, with a "wifely-imposed" lack of internet access, but return to find my posting to be the source of not a little angst amongst the competitors on this particular quiz...
I see that I am called upon to make a defence of my posting, but would stress that the "quiz day" is a Saturday, not a weekday.
I have checked the matter with the National Rail Enquiries website who gives a Saturday journey, run by Northern Rail, from Hooton to Helsby, that departs from platform 1 at Ellesmere Port at 1319 and after an intermediate stop at Stanlow and Thornton, does arrive at the stated time of 1326 at Ince and Elton.
A ticket price of £2.20 Anytime Day Single is quoted as the price for this journey.
Therefore, the matter is in need of an official adjudication and I have sent a PM to Zoe as the quiz-setter to request this.

There are no Northern Rail Hooton to Helsby services in this timetable.

It looks like the train in question is a special that is running as part the celebration of 150 years of the line. This game only covers the regular standard timetable and not one-off special days like these so this takes us back to Ellesmeere Port at 1231 on Saturday with Paul having priority to post the next move until 1000.

Deciding to forsake a visit to the Boat Museum and to make a visit by to the Lady Lever Art Gallery in lieu, we next take the 1242 Merseyrail service to Port Sunlight that arrives there at 1302 on Saturday afternoon.

We could take the long trip to our next destination, via Liverpool city centre, but don't feel we could stand the excitement. Instead we take the quicker train, the 13:16 Merseryrail service to Chester arriving at 13:41 on Saturday.

Not sure whether a rule that states you must catch first available service is in force.
So play it safe and we make our way the very short distance to Gobowen, Post Office

I have sent a PM to Bodie with regards to the quiz rules that are contained upon the very first posting on this quiz and yet another one to Zoe as the quiz-setter.
The maximum scale map on Traveline West Midlands calls the Post Office stop 'Gobowen Rail Station' - along with several other stops in the area, it is true
Does that make the original move valid - even though Bodie probably didn't look in that level of detail?

The Arriva timetable for route 2 shows times for Gobowen railway station with a note saying to alight at the post office so I'm happy that this stop does indeed serve the railway station. We RESUME from Halls Corner, Ifton Heath at 1522 on Saturday.

We decide that we would like to see the terminal reverse point of this bus service, so it is not too long before we board the 1529 Arriva Midlands service 53 to Oswestry bus station that arrives there at 1557 on Saturday afternoon.
It looks like this is the bus of the day and that there is no Sunday service from Montgomery so unless anyone can find an earlier service, we have to wait it out until Monday morning when we can board the 0730 Tanat Valley Coaches bus route 558 to Shewsbury Bus Station arriving at 0829 on Monday.

After the time afforded for a light lunch, we decide to head ever westwards and board the 1410 Lloyds Coaches service X85 to Machynlleth (Ysbty Bro Ddyfi on Newtown Road) that arrives there at 1501 on Monday afternoon.

A change of bus company now sees us board the 1715 Arriva service 33 to Dolgellau (Eldon Square) that arrives there at 1735 on Monday afternoon.

As we disembark, the driver tells us there is only one final service out of Trawsfynydd after he departs, but suggests that we find a good hostelry to pass the time as there is over a two-hour wait for that service to arrive. We are grateful for his advice, noting that in some settlements, the time of arrival of the bus that we have just arrived on would have meant being stranded for the night so we relax and enjoy a convivial evening until it is time to board the 2202 Express Motors service T2 to Llanelltyd (Bro Cymmer) that arrives there at 2220 on Monday evening.

Despite the situation where we have disembarked, we still are drawn to the lure of the omnibus, so having crossed the road, we board the Arriva Cymru service X5 to Caernarfon bus station that arrives there at 1215 on Tuesday morning.
