EMT are recruiting for depot drivers

The scary thing is that the interviews aren't the only things EMT have to squeeze in before the 22nd April start date!

There's the Assessment Centre, Medical and drugs testing (which needs a while for the results to come through) too, plus I believe a second depot manager interview, assuming that the process is exactly the same as a normal train driver process, as the job description suggests.

We'd be practically walking out of our current jobs as opposed to working any form of notice.

Still, it's very much worth the wait!

Or, like most TOC's seem to do, they'll move the goalposts to accommodate the time frame the testing takes.

It doesn't have to take forever, I was invited for assessment/interview one Thursday I think it was, the interview was the following Monday, I was offered the job on the Tuesday or Wednesday, was medical'd by the Friday and confirmed passing the medical by the following Tuesday. Altogether it took a week.

I recently had a drugs and alcohol test at a medical for a new company and they gave me the results there and then! The put the urine into test bottles that the colour would change if there were drugs present!

Ahhhh, it could be a urine test then. I pictured something like the last drugs test I went through a couple of years ago, which involved cutting off some snippets of hair, which had to be submitted to another company for testing, the results taking just over a week to return.

I'm hoping we'll hear something from EMT tomorrow or Tuesday! (Preferably tomorrow, lol)

Hi everyone,

Long time reader, first time poster.
I have had contact with EMT since I applied for the position.
On Friday I recieved a call from a gentleman querying my availablity for this coming Wednesday (the line was terrible, I was in a busy office and assumed it was a work call so I didn't catch his name or the company at first). He assured me that he would call me back this week as wanted to see me.

I returned the call from that number today to confirm it was EMT, to my joy it was the HR department. The manager for that department is on annual leave today but returns tomorrow, Tuesday.

I sent my application in with a copy of my CV attached, in an A4 envelope. due to not having time to post, delivered by hand on my way from nottingham to birmingham on the closing date.

Volunteer down at the GC in loughborough and have been looking forward to a role like this for a while, so hope that i at least get an interview!!

So by the sounds of it then, the manager rang around some people friday, is off today so presumably will complete phone calls tomorrow?

Hate having to wait for answers, although good things come to those who wait. it would be amazing to get it!

In a way it makes sense because they (interviewers) can determine if one is worth investing in the assessment process!

I would much prefer to have my DMI on a later date after the assessments, giving me a breather and to prepare myself for judgement day!

Northern do the same. I don't understand anyone doing it differently, surely TOCs don't want to waste money paying for assessment if candidates aren't suitable? It surely makes more sense to whittle the numbers down BEFORE paying an outside company to assess people?

Oh I agree, however not all TOCs operate or conduct the selection process this way and there is not a wrong or right way of doing it.

Both methods work according to the 'best practice' for TOCs but I would prefer to take the assessments before the DMI.

Not that I am aware of, details are being emailed to me. The chap explained that there will be a question sheet to complete prior to the assessment...

I've been at work all day too, but I don't think they have attempted to call me. Besides, I wouldn't actually have been able to attend the Assessments on the 2nd April, as I'm both moving house AND working that day! (Crazy day!)

A big part of me is hoping that they are going to book a second date for assessments and get another batch of people on that one. If we haven't heard anything in the next two days though, then I guess that's it for now! (Cry)

On a positive note though, it means I won't have to cancel that holiday I booked, lol.

Brilliant, well done. I actually feel it's an achievement in itself to get this far after reading so many threads re:high application numbers.
I've been a bit of a geek and ordered a couple of books as a little heads up for the assessment/interview. I'd be speechless if I actually got an offer of employment but going to grasp the opportunity with both hands never the less.

Thanks for all the well wishes, fingers crossed for everyone else that applied - you never know what tomorrow may bring!

Also I just realised its been two weeks since we all applied, so is it fair to say that as it said "if you havent been contacted within two weeks then you have been unsuccessful" that it means better luck next time...?

I would assume so, I received an email today in regards to the assessment day arrangements and to confirm receipt by 25/03/13.

Even though I've completed all my assesments with a previous company I was kinda hoping I may be contacted for the next stage but there I go being all optimistic again...

I put Nottingham as preference but stated I was within a 40mins drive from both depots in the additional info.
