If successful would I be able to commute to the training centre or would I be expected to stay in digs (funded either by TOC or self)?

Just checked my status eagerly after seeing these posts and mine still says

Still awaiting short listing. Rumblings from management suggest they have over 2500 applications to go through for 10 jobs. HR have had to draft the driver managers in to help

Yeah but 2500 apps for 10 jobs!! I'm reckoning on a big fat slice of luck aswell as a decent application to get past those odds
My application changed to Unsuccessful at shortlisting on Friday afternoon.
Thought I had done a really good job with the app too, putting loads of examples in my current job to link in with the requirements of the drivers job and ensured all the main bullet points on the job advertisement were covered.
Getting into the Raiways is such a difficult job but I thought my app was the best I could do, obviously it was not meant to be.
However it would have been nice to get a Thanks but no thanks e-mail from TPE, but only found out by logging into the website.
Oh well, good luck to all those still in the running !

TPE will put you up in a hotel if your home depot is more than an hour away from Huddersfield e.g. Liverpool, however if you will be based in say Man Pic then it would be a commute as it's about 35 mins, you will get free rail travel. This was the arrangement with the current course.

I don't but it's inside Huddersfield Station so easy to look up.
I dont want to come across as pedantic Vicline, (not even sure if I've spelt that right) but would the free rail travel commence from my home station (Chorley) to Huddersfield or would I have to pay myself for travel to, say Man Pic if that was my base and then get free travel onwards?
I'm sorry to hear that Garry. Its a gutting feeling isn't when your app isn't looked upon favourably especially after all the hard work one puts into it. I've not heard myself yet but I'm wondering too if the sift is done alphabetically? I'm a 'W' so I guess I might have a wait!!
There is someone on the forum who has posted many times that he was a sifter/interviewer etc so I wonder if he could shed any light on this?

I'm "F" and I'm still living in hope
On the application for you would have been asked your home station if this was Chorley this is where your free travel ticket will start from.
I'm not complaining but you can tell they have short timescales now and the applications must have overwhelmed them. Less than 7 days notice is cutting it fine. I know others in the industry that had less than 48hrs notice for an interview once though so it may well be a railway thing!
Just read further info an there are to be 3 assessment days and then a medical. All 10 positions start on the 24th June. Very good accompanying letter explaining all processes and dates required to attend. Totally different to the last time I applied with TPE. Good start.

I've been given 6 days notice for mine. I think it will be end of play tomorrow when most will know. Just my own thoughts of course! However I think Thursday would be the very last day for a Wednesday appointment next week.

Is all TPE classroom training done in Huddersfield ?? and if so how long does the classroom based training last ??
Friend of mine has the attitude on Tuesday. Does anyone know what this entails as he's freaking out. I've not heard anything yet for my app, my surname starts with S. My friends surname starts with H so its looking plausible that its alphabetical.
