Well I reckon it has been completed.. a strange job as the virgin colours were retained except for first class!

I was at Birmingham New Street on last Sunday, and I saw a lot of XC voyagers, and all of them had the new 1st class so I reckon it has been completed as well. There was a plan to put in purple seats originally in standard, but there was some debate on whether the new interior would be too dark and dingy to be DDA compliant, and Central Rivers had a lot of the old seat fabric going spare, so the VT colours were kept. The purple seats in first don't really match the red VT vestibule walls, and XC 170s have yucky interiors so I am kinda glad they kept the colour scheme.

Overcrowding on XC is still crazy, stood in the luggage van area of a 220 with 9 other people, luckily I was only going BHI-LMS. It was a good job the shops were removed, otherwise people would have been refused boarding at BHI. They were pointless anyway as the trains were too crowded to get to the shops when they were still there.

Thanks for explaining that I never really got the DDA thing

The shops were awful on the voyagers as they were so crampt it was impossible to stand and be served with passengers passing by at the same time!

However the allowance for bikes is appalling! only three spaces?? Not sure how much the luggage space has relieved the problem of baggage as people want to keep watch on it... the window through to the carriage is pretty useless! I agree the FC purple seating looks strange against the red... have they replaced the FC carpets and if so what colour are they now? cheers

I actually make it 1, maybe 2. 317668 was out today on the Stratford - Bishops Stortford Circuit.

317667 is at Ilford with no allocation. It arrived Friday night and hasn't been out all weekend, nor out today. I wouldn't be surprised if that's replaced 665 in the shop. Will try and confirm this during the week.

Nope. 668 still needs to be painted. 667 I believe is the replacement for 665 in the shop, and 670 has been done- that was done before 665.

Too many numbers here, I'm confusing myself!

aha 670 has been done.. cheers. I believe when these are done all 317s are in either national express silver, plain white or GA plain white liveries..

I take it no progress has been made with the interior refurbishment of the 317/6s... I understand some had carpets and upholstery done whereas others only upholstery but that it was a trial job..

All of the 317/6's have had new carpets when they've been reliveried. Only 317653/655/658 have had new seat covers. NX did those and those 3 units have the same seat covers as the 379's and the ex LM 321/4's (which I'm lead to to believe should all be completed at Clacton by the end of March)

ah well new carpets is something I guess... I'd probably rather have new carpets than new seat cushions as the old ones are probably still overhauled if need be anyway whereas the carpets can becoe heavily ingrained in dirt

any pics.. do the carpets match the interior or are they like northerns ex fgw 156s used to be with carpet and upholstery not matching?

Erm no, I don't have pictures of the carpet. Doesn't do much for me ;) if I get a 317/6 to work tomorrow, I'll get a shot of the interior for you.

No the carpets and upholstery don't match. Same carpet thats in the 379's. Looks quite smart. The seat covers in the 317/6's just look so tired and dated now. It's a shame they've not been reupholstered. 317653/655/658 really looked the business when they were first done with new seat covers and new carpet. Although I recall someone saying 'you can't polish a turd'.

Although some of the 360 units are in desperate need of some new seat covers. They're at the point of being threadbare on some seats. Not a good look.

Do you think if one of those 360s turned up at SWT in a hypothetical world there would be mass complaints? <(

466020 & 466041 were moved to Doncaster last week. These were the final two in Connex Yellow Livery, so in essence all the 466s are now done, or being done

On FCC, 'Pinky' and 'Perky' are no more. 319364 and 319365 are now in standard FCC livery.
